‘Baby steps’: Prince Harry’s cautious next step to repair his relationship with his family

Prince Harry is planning to make more frequent trips to the UK, according to reports.

This comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, visited with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in July following a period of estrangement.

“That meeting with the king obviously went very very well,” royal reporter Russell Myers told Today.

This also comes ahead of the Invictus Games which will take place at Birmingham in the UK in 2027, with further reports Prince Harry has extended an invitation to King Charles to attend the event.

“We are hearing that Prince Harry has all the intentions of coming to the UK every few months,” Myers said, adding that Harry has stated that he misses the UK and does want reconciliation with his family.

Although, this thawing isn’t expected to extend to Prince Harry’s relationship with his brother Prince William, who is next in line to the British throne.

“Prince William and Princess Catherine didn’t meet him at all when he came over, they had no intention to do so,” Myers confirmed.

“It was a very very busy schedule funnily enough during that week.”

Prince Harry’s plans to make more frequent visits to the UK come despite having lost the right to publicly funded security detail during these trips.

This lack of security is why the Duchess of Sussex didn’t see through her commitments to make public appearances during the family’s recent trip to the UK and do put in doubt any plans she may have to join Harry back home during these trips.

Royal reporter Victoria Arbiter previously told nine.com.au King Charles’ ongoing cancer battle may be fuelling his desire to repair his relationship with his youngest son.

“[When] you remove all the pomp and ceremony, you remove everything, this is still a father and a son,” she said.

“I think the King is very aware of his own health crisis, and the fact that geography makes it very complicated and it makes it very difficult for him to be able to see his son.”

Myers stops short of speculating that Harry may move back to the UK with his family.

“Harry has a great life in California,” he commented.

Instead, he said Harry is focused on “baby steps”, the next of which will be his expected attendance at the WellChild Awards on September 8, of which he is patron.
