Meghan Markle’s earrings cost thousands – recreate the look for £59 | Royal | News

Meghan Markle revived one of this season’s biggest jewellery trends over the weekend, wearing Princess Diana’s treasured butterfly earrings to the David Foster Foundation’s 40th Anniversary Celebration in Canada.

The glittering yellow-gold studs are pavé-set with diamonds and blue sapphires. With their precious stones and royal provenance, they’re considered priceless. But if you want to recreate the look for less than £60, we’ve found the ultimate pair.

Pandora’s Blue Butterfly Stud Earrings instantly reminded us of Meghan’s inherited jewels, thanks to their delicate winged silhouette and vivid blue sparkle. Priced at £59, they swap fine gold, sapphires and diamonds for sterling silver and blue man-made crystals, giving the royal-inspired look, a contemporary and far more affordable twist.

While they’re not replicas, it’s part of their appeal: you still get the pretty butterfly motif and striking blue finish that caught our eye on Meghan, while the larger stones make Pandora’s version feel distinctly its own.

They’re certainly not replicas, but that’s precisely what makes them such a good alternative. The design captures the same butterfly silhouette, rich blue tones and eye-catching sparkle while giving it a more contemporary, everyday feel.

The cooler silver finish also makes them incredibly easy to style. And while Diana’s delicate pavé design is unmistakably fine jewellery, Pandora’s bolder stones give the motif a little more impact on the ear.

Butterflies are one of those jewellery designs that rarely date, either, making these a lovely option if you’re looking for something a little more interesting than a classic stud.

Small enough to wear with jeans and a shirt but pretty enough for an evening out, I’d style them with a simple black dress like Meghan to really make the blue pop.
