One thing we can always count on from the Duchess of Sussex is an impeccably curated wardrobe, whatever the occasion.
During a recent family holiday in Portugal, Meghan shared a series of Instagram photographs that offered a glimpse inside her holiday suitcase.Â
Her retro-inspired styling quickly prompted comparisons with the late Princess Diana, with many fans noting striking similarities between the two women’s fashion choices.
In beachside photographs with Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, Meghan wore a sleek, low-back swimsuit that would not have looked out of place in Diana’s wardrobe.Â
She paired it with her chunky Saucony trainers, a style she was previously seen wearing during an official visit to Australia earlier this year.
For cooler moments, Meghan wore a 1980s-inspired knitted cardigan featuring a button-down front and contrasting trim – a detail that was also a favourite of Diana’s.Â
I recognised the piece immediately because I own the very same cardigan. It comes from one of Meghan’s trusted labels, the Los Angeles-based brand Heidi Merrick, and makes an ideal layer when the temperature drops.
I may be slightly biased but I think Meghan’s style continues to evolve beautifully. Whether intentional or purely coincidental, the echoes of Diana’s wardrobe add an extra layer of charm to her look.
As ever, Meghan completed her outfit with her signature stack of jewellery, including Princess Diana’s Cartier Tank Française watch and a Cartier Love bracelet.

The Finny cardigan is a wardrobe staple for cooler days. With its retro-inspired detailing, boxy silhouette and timeless black and beige colourway, it’s a versatile piece that teams with everything from denim to swimwear.
Unsurprisingly, it’s flying off the shelves after being reduced from £195 to £98. If you’ve been considering adding it to your wardrobe, it’s worth snapping up your size before it sells out. Â

How to recreate Meghan’s beachside lookÂ
Meghan’s effortlessly chic beach ensemble is easy to emulate. While the exact designer behind her swimsuit remains unknown – my guess would be celebrity favourite Hunza G – the high street is full of low-back styles that capture the same aesthetic.
Take your pick from options at John Lewis, Boden or M&S, then finish the look with Meghan’s exact Saucony trainers for the perfect blend of style and practicality.
