Kate Ferdinand’s stylist Ellis Ranson shares her top tips on partywear outfits for the festive season

We’ve had our eye on stylist to the stars Ellis Ranson and so we jumped at the chance to pick her brains on dressing for the Christmas period.
With a client base including Kate Ferdinand, Laura Anderson, Ferne McCann (the list goes on), Ellis dresses celebrities for award shows, film premieres, events and more. Not to mention, Ellis’ own personal style is top notch and she is often posting enviable ensembles over on her Instagram page!

One of our favourite recent looks from fashion genius Ellis, was Kate Ferdinand’s khaki outfit by Joseph for the Royal Carol Service hosted by Kate Middleton.
The tonal ensemble was utterly gorgeous and Ellis says ‘we went for khaki as it felt perfect for this time of year without being too out there, but not just a standard black or navy.’

Look 1 – Christmas Party
This is the time of year you are able to experiment and push yourself outside of your comfort zone because you have that great excuse… it’s Christmas!!

A sparkly accessory will take your party look to the next level, and this gold crossbody bag is a great choice.

Look 2 – After work drinks
Go for a basic roll neck and swap your work skirt or trousers for a sparkly skirt and tights, add some accessories and you are good to go.

Ellis says: ‘The mini skirt has been all over the catwalks so now is the perfect time to give it a try.’
Pick a pair of party tights this winter and you’ll immediately jazz up your outfit.
This pair of 30 denier semi-sheer tights look sleek and the gold polka dot pattern is subtle and sophisticated.
Wear them with a cosy knit dress or add them to your party outfit!
Ellis says: ‘I am loving a statement tight, they can complete your look by adding that sparkle.’
Look 3 – Christmas Eve event
Make sure to add sparkle to your look, whether that’s a statement earring or bag.
These flower-shaped earrings are made from 18kt gold-plated bronze and will add a stylish statement to your look.
Gold has been a real trend recently and adding beautiful jewellery is an easy way to up the style stakes.
Ellis says: ‘When buying new accessories consider how many ways you can wear them, don’t just buy for a one off occasion.’
Shimmer and shine in sequins this Christmas – they’re a festive favourite!
The chocolate brown hue is so chic and will look gorgeous teamed with complementary gold accessories.
To wear it again, why not layer with your favourite Christmas knit and trainers on Boxing Day to dress it down and maximise use?
Ellis says: ‘If sequins scare you opt for a darker shade and a simple shape. This season the racer style has been a true favourite.’
