‘Easy to use’ at-home nail kit is ‘better than salon’ say mature fans

Manicured nails can transform a person’s mood, with a fresh polish making many of us feel put together and ready for the day. While heading to a salon is an option, the price of monthly appointments can be costly, as well as time-consuming and harsh on nails.

Traditional nail polish is more affordable; however, beauty fans will likely know the frustration of waiting for it to dry, only to find one round of washing up leaves them chipped and messy. With this in mind, shoppers have found an innovative way to achieve a salon-quality finish at home, potentially saving hundreds of pounds a year on salon visits.

The Sistaco Mineral Bond Nail Set is an at-home kit designed to make the process of nail care quick, easy, gentle and high-quality. Instead of liquid polish, acrylics or dipping powders, Sistaco uses finely milled mineral powders that are brushed onto the nail to create a glossy, durable finish, long-lasting nails, providing length and strength.

A set of salon nails could cost upwards of £30 a session, but the Sistaco Nail Set could essentially pay for itself in two sessions – now on sale for £75 down from £100.95. As well as the LED lamp, top and base coat, applicator and mixing pot, the offer includes free erase pads (for easy removal) and three free nail colours.

There are more than 200 colours to choose from, from timeless neutrals, nudes and soft pinks to bold statement colours, holographics, metallics, and colour-shifting finishes. The Mineral Bond powders can also be mixed and layered, allowing customers to create their own custom colours and unique finishes for endless manicure possibilities.

According to the brand, most manicures take under 10 minutes and provide a glossy, professional-looking finish that lasts over two weeks. Sistaco Mineral Bond does not require dipping, drilling or harsh-smelling fumes and chemicals, and the formula is odourless and gentle on nails – formulated without 16 toxic ingredients commonly found in traditional nail products.

Those who are more used to gel nails can also achieve this finish at home. The Mylee Gel Polish Kit (£79 at LookFantastic) features an LED lamp and four gel polishes. It also comes with nail files and a cuticle oil.

Nail wraps are another at-home alternative to salon visits – the Sassy Saints Gel Nail Wrap Starter Pack is on sale for £44.95, down from £60, giving a gel-like finish with less damage. No UV lamp is needed, so it’s an on-the-go option.

On the Sistaco website, there are step-by-step instructions as well as tons of videos so shoppers can follow along. People of all ages have left glowing reviews praising the Mineral Bond Nail Set, confirming that those with shaky hands or less nail painting experience should find the process quick and easy.

One person said: “I have had fun with Sistaco. 60-year-old with shaky hands, and I can use this product easily. Love it. Will certainly be purchasing more products. Ombré with Flamingo and rose gold.”

A second shopper shared: “For the first time in over 6 decades, I have at last got nice looking nails thanks to this amazing product.” And a third person wrote: “I honestly can’t believe how great this stuff is. It is strong and lasts a long time. I get compliments all the time. So much better than going to the salon.”

For some, it may take a bit of time to master. Another customer aged 55 explained: “It took me a couple of times to get it right, but now I love it. I have received so many compliments on my nails.”

But for most people, it doesn’t take long to pick up. A five-star reviewer commented: “The best system, so easy to use, and it looks professional. l’ll never go back to nail polish. I hate nail salons, so I never had nice nails, until now.”

Highlighting how cost-effective the kit is, someone wrote: “Very easy to apply and it keeps my nails so strong after 4 months of going to get my nails done. This has paid for itself in just two uses.”
