Who is Joss Stone’s husband Cody DaLuz? Couple met after singer was linked to Prince Harry and victim of murder plot before going on to secretly marry and announce shock pregnancy just weeks after adopting baby son

Joss Stone has announced she and husband Cody DaLuz are pregnant –  just weeks after adopting a baby boy named Bear.

The singer, 37, already has Violet, three, and Shackleton, two, with the former US Marine, 33, and previously revealed she wanted to eventually have ‘seven kids’.

Taking to Instagram, Joss – whose real name is Joscelyn Eve Stoker – revealed she was ‘shocked’ after discovering that she was expecting again. 

The couple, who are now based in Nashville, Tennesse, met in 2020 after Joss fled the UK amid terrifying kidnap plot, with two men – Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw – convicted of planning to murder the star at her rural east Devon home.

They would go on to secretly marry before starting their family their ever expanding family.

Who is Joss Stone’s husband Cody DaLuz?  

Cody is also adopted and a former Marine and musician who now works for Amazon and according to The Sun was raised in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. 

While it is unknown if he is still enlisted in the military, he shared a snap of himself in uniform alongside his platoon in 2019 and wrote: ‘Miss these guys #reunion sometime?’.

Joss met Cody at an airport in Belize in 2020, when she was on her way back from a gig in Antarctica.

When Joss tried her standard conversation opener with dates on him – ‘nice to meet you… I want seven kids’ – he responded that he wanted an adoptive Beagle and an adoptive baby. 

‘I was like, ‘My God, I love you.’ I knew he was the one,’ she later recalled. 

Last year Joss spoke out on how a plot to kidnap and murder her back in 2011 changed her life and sparked her to relocate to Nashville.

The terrifying ordeal saw two men found guilty in 2013 of plotting to decapitate the her with a samurai sword at her home in Devon.

Back in 2011, the singer was the target of a shockingly violent scheme by Kevin Liverpool and Junior Bradshaw, who labelled her a ‘she-devil’ and wanted to kill her because of her links to the Royal Family. 

Bradshaw and Liverpool, described in court as ‘cannabis-smoking layabouts’, were stopped as they drove to the pop star’s home in Devon with a car full of weapons. 

Kevin was sentenced to life in jail with a minimum of ten years and eight months to serve, while his accomplice Junior sentenced to 18 years behind bars, but both men had their sentences cut.

‘What happened to me in 2011 has made me lock my doors and have an alarm system, whereas I didn’t before,’ Joss told The Times.

‘Cody’s so mellow — he says, “Oh, we don’t need to worry about that,” and I’m, like, “Well, you know, people do sometimes try to kill you.” Then he says, “Oh yeah, that small thing.” That’s not a positive thought, so it does make you safety conscious.

‘Although that’s another blessing, isn’t it? Because I wasn’t before and now I am. But out in Nashville I know those men are not here, so I feel so much safer. Cody worked in security, so he’s the best person to have around.’

A year after their sentencing, both men got their sentences cut after winning an appeal against the length of their sentences.

When did Joss Stone and  Cody DaLuz get married? 

Last year Joss announced she had secretly tied the knot and made their red carpet debut together as husband and wife at the opening of her new musical The Time Traveller’s Wife at the Apollo Theatre in London.

Looking gorgeous in a floral maxi dress, the songstress sported a huge diamond ring on her wedding finger. 

Promoting the show on 5 News earlier the same day she shared the surprise news while recalling how she caught a bouquet during one of the musical’s performances, pushing her to tie the knot.

Telling the show’s director Bill Buckhurst: ‘[The bouquet] came to me and I almost reached out for them to catch the flowers,’. 

‘They sort of fell down here and there was an empty seat – the only empty seat in the whole place’.

She continued:  ‘And no one went to pick them up and I was like, well they were for me! So I picked them up and everyone was like “yay!!!”  Anyway, I went home to Nashville and we got married last Thursday’.

Leaving everyone in the studio flabbergasted Joss quipped: ‘And I thought it was a good omen!’.

‘Wow, that’s proper magic’ the director said.

While a beaming Joss agreed: ‘I know I just thought, it’s gotta be a good sign’.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden she confessed that her gown cost a mere £70 and it had been hanging in her wardrobe for ‘ages’ before she tied the knot. 

She confessed: ‘I bought a white summer dress from ASOS ages ago.

‘It literally cost me £70 and it came in the post and was tagged “bridal”. Luckily, I can still fit into it after having two kids.’

How many kids do Joss Stone and Cody DaLuz have? 

The couple are parents to Violet, three, and Shackleton, two, and adopted newborn son Bear just weeks before discovering they were pregnant.

Joss shared a collection of stunned selfies as she gave fans insight into ‘The one where mummy finds out’. 

Alongside snaps of herself holding a pregnancy test, she wrote: ‘Honestly. Shocked was an understatement. Nothing and no one can take our joy now.

The news came just days after the ‘Super Duper Love’ hitmaker revealed that seven-week-old Bear has problems with his lungs and doctors have warned them not to take him out anywhere.

In a video posted on Instagram, Joss was seen sitting in her car with Bear and saying: ‘I am sat in the car with him because he is so little that he can’t go out because he was so premature his lungs are a little bit vulnerable.

‘I’m just here with little man hanging out.’

Joss went on to reveal she was told not to take Bear out but she still had to take him to a doctor’s appointment.

The pop star added: ‘At the hospital they said: ‘Don’t take him out anywhere’. But shortly after they said but make a doctor’s appointment and I thought: “Hang on you just told me not to take him out as his lungs are too vulnerable but you want me to bring him to the doctors where there are all these germs and stuff?”‘

Prior to that, Joss shared that the whole adoption had happened ‘so fast’ and played a small clip of herself revealing the news to her children.

But the journey to collect the little one did not go entirely smoothly, as the couple ended up in the wrong hospital and became confused about where to go.

Joss explained: ‘We were in the wrong hospital. I knew it! That’s why Tummy Mummy said eighth floor, and the guy downstairs said second floor because they are totally different hospitals!’

Announcing the adoption earlier this month, Joss shared a sweet video from the moment they met their son for the first time, and also Bear meeting his siblings at Thanksgiving. 

The British singer wrote in the caption: ‘Happy mummy Mondays. This is what happened to us last Monday. 

‘We can not quite believe it. We are in love big time with this little guy. 

‘The reason why Cody even exists is because his bio mum loved him enough to make an adoption plan for him and the same goes for Bear.

‘Honestly bio mothers do not get the gratitude they deserve. It is a more selfless love than I knew existed. Truly. We are just so happy to be part of this beautiful cycle.

In 2023, Joss revealed she and Cody  had started the started the adoption process to expand their brood.

She told HELLO! magazine of the adoption process: ‘We’re trying to do our home study. I hope we get to do it. I want, like, 25 kids.’

Did Joss Stone date Prince Harry?

Joss was previously linked to Prince Harry, 40, after they become friends after meeting at a Prince’s Trust fundraiser event in 2004.

She became so involved with the organisation the Duke of Sussex co-founded to help African orphans — Sentebale — that she travelled to the continent to see its projects.

But Joss has since said the pair have lost touched and said she ‘hopes’ she will see him again.

‘I went to Lesotho for Harry’s charity,’ she said. ‘I love that one and got deep into it. I hope I’ll see him again one day.’ 

Joss has juggled her music career with her extensive charity work, including her role as a charity ambassador for Prince Harry’s charity Sentebale.

The charity supports the mental health and wellbeing of children in Lesotho and Botswana who have been affected by HIV.

Joss attended the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in May 2018, which saw the couple tie the knot at Windsor Castle in front of 800 guests.
