‘I think that is helpful because we were able to just look at it as a character on the page,’ Ed added.
Recalling the moment they discovered they had secured their roles, Luther recalled: ‘It was an open casting call and my sister sent it me. I was studying film at the time and I had no plans to become an actor.
‘My mum specifically told me, you’re never going to get the part you look nothing like him!’
Meg explained: ‘I was at Legoland Windsor when I got the call. I was playing a giant snake when I got the message.
‘I had to run into a room and when I came back out the first person I spoke to was a customer who was like, “my queue skip card isn’t working” I was like “hang on a minute” because I thought I might pass out.’
This week, Netflix teased fans with a sneak peek of the moment Kate Middleton first caught the eye of Prince William at a St Andrew’s charity fashion show back in 2002.
Wokingham Actress Meg, who was plucked from obscurity to play the role, struts down the runway at St Andrews’ Bay Hotel in the famous sheer dress and black underwear.
The teaser clip shows a young William dazzled by his future wife – and the moment the pair first lock eyes.

It begins with cheering and screaming from the audience, before the camera pans up and we see Kate in the Charlotte Todd-designed strapless dress with turquoise trim. Kate, whose tresses fall in the same ringlet waves as the princess’s 20 years prior, then begins to strut down the catwalk and the shot switches to Prince William – who looks up from his glass of wine.
The prince then leans forward, captivated by Kate, as she turns the corner and poses for cameras before doing a shimmy. She then carries on walking, stops to pose again and a slow motion shot sees her and a rather smitten-looking William share a glance. William presses his lips together before breaking out into a smirk.
Kate the turns away but soon looks back at him, before doing one final turn and walking off stage smiling.
It has been more than two decades since the moment between the pair of students occurred in real life.
William is thought to have paid £200 for a ticket to sit on the front row of the show with friends and is rumoured to have turned to one of them and said: ‘Wow, Kate’s hot.’
It is said to be the turning point in the couple’s relationship, as they eventually went from close friends to developing romantic feelings for each other.
The dress in question went on to sell for a staggering £78,000 at auction following the catwalk show and became one of Kate’s best-known fashion moments.
The pair were studying at St Andrew’s University at the time and met the previous year, although Kate’s catwalk appearance is thought to have been the catalyst for romance.
Kate was working towards an art history degree, while William, who initially enrolled for history of art, had switched to geography.

Kate previously revealed it took some time for the two to get to know each other.
‘I think you said I actually went bright red when I met you and sort of scuttled off,’ she recounted to Prince William during their 2010 engagement interview. ‘[I was] feeling very shy about meeting you.’
But as the pair spent more and more time together, they found that they had much in common and enjoyed each other’s company.
The final instalment of the big-budget royal drama, which has drawn criticism for scenes depicting the run up to and aftermath of Princess Diana’s death in Paris, will focus on the young royals.
