Sunrise presenter Edwina Bartholomew surprised her co-hosts and viewers on Monday as she revealed her unique choice of gift for her husband Neil Varcoe on their sixth wedding anniversary.

While congratulating Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their relationship milestone, the 40-year-old TV star revealed she was also celebrating six years since walking down the aisle with her partner.

‘Happy anniversary today to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, can you believe it’s been six years since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot?’ Edwina said on Monday.

‘The couple usually mark their anniversary by adhering to tradition, gifts of iron are usually exchanged on the 6th anniversary.’

Edwina then shared her own quirky gift, saying, ‘We just had our six-year anniversary and I gave Neil a casserole dish to cook his own meals.’

The Sunrise team — Natalie Barr, Matt Shirvington, and Mark Beretta — burst out in laughter at the unusual present.

A shocked Natalie inquired about Neil’s response, to which Edwina assured viewers he had specifically requested the present.

She added she received a purple jumper from Neil, joking that it was ‘better than being given an iron, I suppose. That would have been really well received.’

Edwina and Neil’s relationship made headlines last year when she revealed that the pair slept in separate bedrooms.

‘It’s been this way for about seven years,’ Edwina wrote in a column for The Courier Mail.

‘I’m convinced it’s the secret to our happy marriage (and clearly hasn’t impacted our ability to produce two kids).’

The mother-of-two explained her husband’s sleep is often disrupted when she wakes up early to prepare for the breakfast program, leading to their decision to sleep apart.
