Suits star shares updates on spin-off after series enjoyed huge resurgence on Netflix

The stars of Suits – minus Meghan Markle – reunited at the Golden Globes on Sunday and one member teased a spin-off for the series following its streaming revival.

Patrick J. Adams, who plays the US legal drama’s protagonist Mike Ross, revealed that he was up for a reboot with the Duchess of Sussex.

The entire cast became TV royalty with Suits’ success from 2011 to 2019, and their place was cemented by a resurgence on Netflix, including becoming the streaming giant’s most watched show for 12 straight weeks after its introduction to the platform last summer.

Patrick, 42, told E! News: ‘I’m totally astounded it’s found a second life. I feel honoured.

‘When you walk away from a show, you think that’s it and you’re going to move on to something else and just to know that a whole new generation of people are finding it and loving it – loving it almost more than they loved it the first time around, it’s incredible.’

He also showered praise on his on-screen partner Meghan, who plays Rachel Zane, calling her a ‘fantastic actress’ who the industry would be ‘lucky to have back’.

And Patrick was eager to express his willingness for the pair to reunite in a potential spin-off, adding: ‘Let’s go, I’d do it. I’m ready. Mike and Rachel in Seattle.’

Meghan reacted to her show’s return to the spotlight at the end of last year, telling Variety that she had ‘no idea’ what prompted its revival, but qualifying it by saying ‘good shows are everlasting’.

‘It’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days,’ she added, ‘so that could have something to do with it.’

Patrick was joined on the Golden Globes red carpet by co-stars Gina Torres, 54, Sarah Rafferty, 51, and Gabriel Macht, 51, as they joined up to present the Best TV Drama award at the ceremony’s 81st edition.

Collectively, the leading cast members make up a legal team with Megan as an ambitious young paralegal and Patrick as a former con-man who becomes Harvey Specter’s (Macht) protégé.

Rafferty played legal secretary Donna Paulsen, while Torres starred as a managing partner Jessica Pearson.

Aside from Netflix, Suits is also available on NBC’s platform Peacock and on there and Netflix combined, viewership for Suits has surpassed 2 billion minutes.

The original Suits was added to Netflix in June, and quickly attracted viewers with its binge-friendly catalogue of 134 episodes spanning nine seasons.

Any potential new series would be the third Suits show, following the one-season spin-off Pearson, which starred Gina Torres and was set in Chicago.

In September, Patrick sent fans into a frenzy after sharing a number of snaps from the show – leading his followers to speculate if the series could be making a return.

He shared images of the cast on his Instagram with the caption: ‘Let’s get serious. Seriously. I miss my friends. Each and every one of them.’

Among the posts was a previously unseen black-and-white portrait of Meghan, apparently on the set of the show, while another showed the duchess lying on the floor as she posed with her co-star Sarah Rafferty.

Fans were delighted to see the snaps, with many taking the post as an apparent hint the series could be coming back.

However he deleted the pictures, claiming that the reason he removed them was because he felt it inappropriate amid SAG-AFTRA’s battle with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers at the time.
