So where IS Meghan’s engagement ring? Duchess of Sussex, whose missing band was redesigned to include more diamonds, is now having it ‘fixed’, source claims

As royal fans continue to question where on earth Meghan Markle’s missing engagement ring has disappeared to, a source may have solved the months-long mystery.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, was first spotted without her enormous sparkler, comprising of one huge Botswana diamond and two from Princess Diana‘s collection, back in May.

Since Meghan already made changes to the sparkler in 2019, replacing its solid gold setting with a micro pavé band, surely it was unlikely she was having it altered again? 

Instead, rumours were sparked of trouble in paradise between the Sussexes – but the mystery deepened even further when the couple quashed the rumours, looking more in love than ever in a polished video released by their Archewell Foundation.

However, eagle-eyed Sussex watchers may finally have their answer after a source claimed the second version of the Duchess’s engagement band is being ‘fixed’.

Page Six reported the unnamed source’s claim as they quashed speculation around the Duke and Duchess’s marriage.

Prince Harry first presented Meghan Markle with the ring, which originally featured the three stones set on a yellow gold band, when he got down on one knee in November 2017 – and he explained he designed it based on Meghan’s personal tastes.

At the time, he said: ‘The ring is obviously yellow gold because that’s [Meghan’s] favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewellery collection, to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together.’  

Meghan called it ‘incredible’, explaining: ‘Everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of [Princess Diana’s stones] and obviously not being able to meet his mom, it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us.

When the Duchess first sported the engagement ring in 2017 it featured a gold band, which Harry said he had chosen because yellow gold was Meghan’s ‘favourite’

‘It’s incredibly special to be able to have this [ring], which sort of links where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us. It’s perfect.’ 

Botswana was the location of the couple’s second date. 

However the Duchess chose not to wear her engagement ring for a number of public engagements back in 2019 while pregnant with her son Archie.

When she appeared at Trooping the Colour that year, it emerged the Duchess had altered the custom made engagement ring that Prince Harry designed for her. Instead of the gold band, the ring now sported by the Duchess featured a micro pavé band filled with smaller diamonds. 

At the time, jewellery expert Arabel Lebrusan confirmed the ring had been changed, and suggested it was more American in style compared to the original engagement ring.

She called the thinner band a popular trend, revealing: ‘Many celebrities do this, as the central stone looks bigger in comparison getting the wow factor.’ 

The jewellery expert pointed out the difference in the band, saying: ‘She now has little diamonds set down the sides of her engagement ring and the band also seems thinner than before.’

She also revealed that the glittering band only emphasised Meghan’s diamonds, and added: ‘The diamond setting on the band looks like micro-set, this means there is very little metal in between the stones maximising the sparkle of the tiny diamonds.’
