Queen Camilla is spotted wearing an evil eye bracelet to ward off negative energy just like Meghan Markle – amid Omid Scobie’s claim she has no relationship with her daughter-in-law

If Omid Scobie’s new book is to believed, relations are rather frosty between Queen Camilla and her daughter-in-law Meghan Markle, but they have one thing in common when it comes to jewellery.

Over the past few weeks, Camilla, 76, has been wearing an evil eye bracelet during a host of royal engagements – just like Meghan, 42.

For her most recent appearance at the Booker Prize Foundation reception, held at Clarence House, the wife of King Charles layered up her signature Van Cleef & Arpels jewels with an intricate evil eye design.

While it is not clear where Camilla purchased her bracelet, the fine gold chain incorporates small turquoise beads, mother-of-pearl stars and the evil eye motif.

With a history spanning thousands of years, this symbol is believed to ward off negative energy from those around you – and the release of Omid Scobie‘s book, Endgame, may offer insight into why both royals are adorned with the motif.

The Duchess of Sussex is renowned for her penchant for symbolic jewellery, having previously been seen wearing numerous necklaces and bracelets adorned with the evil eye.

However, she debuted a new addition to her collection – the Lorraine Schwartz Against Evil Eye Diamond Pave Bracelet – at a Vancouver Canucks ice hockey game with Prince Harry last week.

The bracelet, costing an eye-watering £14,902.41, is crafted from 18-carat white gold, with a total of 23.66 carats blue topaz, 1.86 carats white diamonds and .06 carats black diamonds. According to its designer, it is ‘believed to protect individuals from the envy of others’.

The concept of the evil eye is thousands of years old, and it’s based on the belief that others have the ability to cause you harm – wearing an evil eye talisman is a way of protecting yourself.

Evil eye amulets, typically blue, are known as ‘Nazar’, which translates from Arabic as ‘sight and attention’.

Meghan Markle joins a number of celebrities, including Jennifer Aniston and Gigi Hadid, in bringing the symbol back into the limelight by wearing evil eye-inspired jewellery.

The wife of Prince Harry showcased her newest bracelet for the second time while visiting Vancouver charity Justice For Girls on 22 November.

It comes amid claims that Queen Camilla has no relationship with the Sussexes, according to Omid Scobie’s new book Endgame.

According to the tome, while the queen has ‘great sympathy’ for what Meghan went through, a royal source told the author that she has ‘no respect for the way they handled themselves’.

Conversely, while her relationships with Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, is non-existent, the book claims that Camilla and her husband King Charles, now enjoy ‘laugh-filled’ lunches will William and Kate.
