Putting in the legwork! Has Meghan influenced Harry’s workout routine? Royal’s newly-defined pins are toned by yoga and Pilates, fitness experts say
This week Prince Harry was spotted jogging away from a gym class near his home in luxury home in Montecito, California.
As the 39-year-old Duke donned a pair of shorts, along with a beanie and a puffer jacket, he broke into a run, clearly with fitness on his mind.
And the California-based royal certainly seems to be prioritising his exercise regime as he approaches his 40th birthday in September.
Since de-camping to the Golden State four years ago, the royal’s work-out routine, which once revolved around rugby and polo, seems to have evolved – as his increasingly defined legs show in the latest photos of Harry this week.
Compare snaps of his princely pins while playing rugby in South Africa on a public engagement in 2015 with his current physique and it’s clear he’s changed the type of exercise he does, two fitness experts told FEMAIL.

More toned? Fitness expert Lewis Paris said it was likely that Harry had used different types of training – including yoga and pilates – to strengthen his legs (Right, in Durban in 2015, the Prince pictured this week in Santa Barbara)
Personal trainer, Lewis Paris, founder of Lewis Paris Fitness said regular trips to the gym are likely to have kept Harry looking toned and lean.
He said: ‘A consistent training routine would be the reason for Harry’s shapely legs.
‘Based on my experience, I’d guess he’s going running/jogging once or twice a week, followed by two to three strength sessions, with one focused on HIIT and the other focused on the total body, attacking all the major muscle groups.
‘Shaping the legs takes more effort than just losing the weight, doing some form of strength training will help to form the legs (body) you desire.’
However, Paris also surmises that more meditative practices such as yoga and pilates are also playing their part.
Meghan’s love of yoga is well-known and it appears Harry’s more toned legs could be down to the ancient practice (Meghan and Harry pictured in Dusseldorf on September 16 2023)
Mother-of-two Meghan is a known yogi. In 2017, she declared ‘yoga is my thing’ and posed for a magazine showing off her favourite health pastime.
And of course, the Duchess of Sussex’ mother, Doria Ragland, has long been an yoga teacher in in their home town of LA.’His diet would be clean to stay lean. That will be a key part.
Says Paris: ‘Pilates can help with core strength, posture development and mobility.
‘So Prince Harry is probably engaging in a weekly training routine of doing it three to five times per week to build muscle, maintain weight and keep fit.’
‘With Harry’s military background, he will be benefiting from sticking to a routine and maintaining discipline and focus to get into shape and then to maintain his physique.’
