Princess Eugenie wore beautiful tiara and touching dress on wedding day | Royal | News
Today Princess Eugenie celebrates her fifth wedding anniversary with Jack Brooksbank. She looked incredible on her special day in a Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos gown.
Her dress featured a neckline that folded around the shoulders. It also boasted a flowing, full-length train.
Eugenie’s dress was displayed at Windsor Castle in an exhibition called A Royal Wedding: HRH Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank’, which ran from March 1 – April 22, 2019.
The Princess recorded some audio for visitors to the exhibition, explaining an important personal detail about the dress which honoured her scoliosis correction scar.
She revealed: “I had always wanted a low back, part of it was showing my scar. I believe scars tell a story about your past and your future and it’s a way of getting rid of a taboo.
“For me it’s a way of communicating with people who are going through either similar situations with scoliosis or having a scar of their own they are trying to deal with.”
In addition to the beautiful – and touchingly sentimental – dress, the Princess wore an extravagant jewel.
Eugenie stunned in the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which was lent to her by her beloved granny Queen Elizabeth II.
The official website for the Royal Family revealed that the tiara was made from brilliant and rose-cut diamonds pavé set in platinum.
For a pop of colour, it boasted six emeralds on either side, as well as one huge central cabochon emerald.
Royal.uk confirmed: “It was made for Mrs Greville in 1919 by the Parisian jewellery house Boucheron in the fashionable ‘kokoshnik’ style popularised in the Russian Imperial Court. Mrs Greville bequeathed the tiara to Queen Elizabeth, consort of King George VI, in 1942.”
But The Court Jeweller suggested that it was Princess Eugenie who made the enchanting emerald tiara famous. Indeed, before her, it had never been worn publicly by a member of the Royal Family.
Eugenie wore a pair of diamond and emerald drop earrings – a wedding gift from Jack Brooksbank – which perfectly complemented the tiara. The emeralds were an ideal choice for Eugenie, who has piercing green eyes.
Her hair, which looked elegant in a chic up-do and allowed the tiara to take centre stage, was styled by Sonny-Jo MacFarlane, Hari’s.
