Meghan Markle’s nod to her old life in London: Duchess opts for £1,395 emerald halter neck gown from British brand Galvan for her festive Netflix series promo

Meghan Markle gave a nod to her old life in the UK as she opted for a gown by a London fashion brand to promote her new festive series.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, took to her Instagram page on Monday to introduce With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration with a glossy promotional shot of herself preparing for a Yuletide spread.
Photographed placing ornate Christmas decorations on a cluttered dining room table, Prince Harry‘s wife opted for her £1,395 Ushuaia dress from the Notting Hill based Galvan.
She previously wore the sweeping evening gown, which features a modern twist halterneck and a satin, draping silhouette, for her Variety magazine shoot in 2022.
Opening up to one of her favoured US publications in the October, the California-based mother-of-two touched on everything from her husband’s love of US fast food to her grief over the late Queen’s death in the wide-ranging interview.
Meghan’s holiday special will be airing on Netflix on December 3, the Duchess revealed in her post. The streaming giant has already aired two seasons of the show, touting a selection of cooking and hosting ‘tips’ from the ex-working royal.
However, the date may raise eyebrows as it clashes with a major event set to be held by King Charles, who will be hosting a state visit from the President of Germany at Windsor Castle on that day.
‘Embrace traditions and make new ones this holiday season,’ the Duchess’ caption read. ‘With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration arrives December 3rd on Netflix.’
Meghan Markle has revealed that her holiday special will be airing on Netflix on December 3
The special will follow a similar style to her Netflix series, which was hit with scathing reviews in August when the second season dropped.
Season two of With Love, Meghan was panned as ‘marginally less mad but more needy’ than its predecessor – despite pulling in millions of viewers in its debut run.
The Mail’s Liz Jones branded the season ‘staged, fake and dull’ – but unlike other critics, commended Meghan for being ‘genuinely earnest’.
The Guardian dismissed the show as ‘so boring’ and ‘so contrived’, while The Telegraph described the Duchess as a ‘Montecito Marie Antoinette’.
The Times was equally cutting, calling the eight-part show ‘a series in search of a meaning, fronted by a woman in need of some cash’.
Even with celebrity guests including Chrissy Teigen, John Legend and Tan France, critics argued the show lacked substance – and claimed Meghan failed to be authentic.
For instance, the Duchess was seen baking several times throughout the show, preparing sourdough for her friend Teigen and using ready-made puff pastry to create apple pies with France.
But she admitted to guest chef Christina Tosi: ‘Usually, I don’t like baking because it’s so measured.’

Meghan’s As Ever range, which launched in March, includes ready-made shortbread cookies and crepe mixes with pre-measured amounts.
Last month, the Duchess revealed her first Christmas collection with As Ever – including two candles inspired by her wedding date and her August 4 birthday and a 2021 Vintage Napa Valley Brut, costing $89.
Adding to her range of fruit spreads, Meghan also launched a new strawberry flavour, which comes as part of the Signature Fruit Spread Gift set, priced at $42, alongside a jar of orange marmalade and raspberry.
Elsewhere, the Duchess also added a $32 Sage Honey With Honeycomb to her festive collection, which is said to ‘hold a special place in Meghan’s heart’.
Beekeeping has become a favourite pastime for the mother-of-two, and in May, she shared a clip of herself and her daughter Lilibet harvesting honey before cutting out a slice of honeycomb and storing it in a jar.
However, shoppers shouldn’t confuse their As Ever honey with a jar harvested by Meghan, because though she relishes the honey gathered from her homegrown apiary, her two hives likely won’t produce enough of the sweet stuff to sell commercially.
The new collection also included a Hot Toddy Mulling Spice Kit and a Spiced Cider Mulling Spice Kit, and Meghan advised shoppers that both are best enjoyed with company.
In addition to the $16 price point, the kits require shoppers to purchase either their alcohol of choice for the hot toddy or, for the spiced cider, a pot of apple cider to add the spice packets to.
