Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s photographer friend shares arty black and white images of the couple as he reveals ‘lovely moments’ from behind the scenes at the Invictus Games

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s friend – who has photographed some of the couple’s most cherished family moments – has shared behind-the-scene images from this year’s Invictus Games.

Photographer Misan Harriman, 46, who captured Princess Lilibet’s first birthday at Frogmore Cottage for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, took to Instagram today to reveal ‘lovely moments’ from the tournament in Germany

One of the images showed Meghan proudly watching Harry onstage as he practised his closing speech to a near-empty room at the Merkur Spiel-Arena in Dusseldorf in September.

Another captured the mother-of-two, 42, affectionately placing her hand on the Duke’s back as he chatted to guests, with the Duchess thought to be wearing her strapless £830 Cult Gaia dress.

‘Lovely moments from this years @weareinvictusgames,’ Mr Harriman wrote in the caption of one of his posts.

Elsewhere, the couple are pictured in the audience clapping while dressed in all their finery, with Meghan looking glamorous in her sleeveless gown and Harry sporting a smart suit and shirt.

A final image shared by Mr Harriman, who is based in London, showed the Duchess, sporting a chic up-do hairstyle, holding the hands of a competitor.

Prince Harry, who served in the British Army for 10 years and served two tours in Afghanistan, created the Paralympics-style competition for injured, sick and wounded service personnel and veterans, with the first event taking place in 2014.

In the week that Heart of Invictus was released on Netflix, Misan Harriman shared a brooding black and white photo of Harry on his Instagram account and heaped praise upon him.

Mr Harriman praised both the Duke and the Invictus Games itself for its contribution to improving the lives of injured veterans.

The photo, which was taken during the 2022 Invictus Games in The Netherlands, showed Prince Harry standing alone while dressed in a black shirt.

Mr Harriman wrote: ‘I’m so proud of this man and the incredible space of healing that is [The Invictus Games].’

He continued: ‘Countless lives have been changed through the very real sense of community that Prince Harry has built with the Invictus Games.

‘I took this picture on the last day of last years games in The Hague. Empathy and purpose can go a long, long way.’ He then posted several hashtags including ‘mental health’, ‘be kind’ and ‘support our veterans’.

In September 2020, Mr Harriman, who has two daughters with Camilla Holmstroem, became the first black male photographer to shoot a British Vogue cover in its then-105-year history.

The activist-themed cover featured England footballer Marcus Rashford and model Adwoa Aboah, with Mr Harriman working with a predominantly black team on set.

A year before, the Duchess of Sussex guest edited the September issue, which is traditionally the magazine’s most important of the year.

Photography is Harriman’s second career, after previously working in finance but he’s proved prolific since getting behind the lens.

He’s photographed everyone from Demi Lovato and Ed Harris to Elton’s husband David Furnish. Elton and David are long-time friends of Harry and Meghan.

The photographer told British Vogue at the couple’s second pregnancy announcement shoot that the Duchess of Sussex had thanked him for helping her find love with Prince Harry, saying: ‘Meg reminded me that had I not introduced her to a mutual friend then she wouldn’t have met Harry. I’m grateful for whatever small part I played.’

He was a wedding guest at their nuptials in 2018, and Harriman captured a portrait of the couple’s one-year-old daughter Lilibet’s birthday celebrations last year.

The Southbank Chair released a series of three images taken at a ‘casual, intimate backyard picnic’ hosted by the Sussexes at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor on June 4 2022, having been invited to attend the small gathering as one of just a handful of select guests, alongside his wife and their two daughters.

Harry and Meghan put on an extraordinary red carpet-style display of flirting and affection during the Invictus Games in their first official public engagements together since May.

Body language expert Judi James told MailOnline that the tactile royals were reasserting themselves as a global ‘celebrity power couple’.

Their public displays of affection, after it emerged Meghan has taken off her engagement ring because a setting came loose, came after friends of the couple had torn apart speculation about their future in Hollywood and rumoured strains behind the scenes.

Ms James said: ‘Meghan and Harry’s body language really does seem to signal that the Harry and Meghan roadshow is back in the room.

‘It’s been a while since the fans have been treated to some of their signature rituals of togetherness as a couple and as a professional double act but they appear here taking the applause like celebrities with Harry back in his proud, protective tow-along pose, hand-in-hand with a very excited looking Meghan.

‘Their hand clasp is mutual, with Harry’s hand on top in a gesture of dominance and Meghan’s fingers are curled upward to show reciprocal affection as Harry leans to talk to her.’

Harry had travelled to Dusseldorf alone after a stopover in London. He and his wife have carried out a large number of solo events separately this summer.

Their last public engagement was in New York in May when Meghan was given a Women of Vision Award. Doria Ragland also attended.

In early August Harry embarked on a boys-only Asian tour with best friend Nacho Figueras while his wife partied with friends watching Taylor Swift in LA and stayed at home to care for Archie and Lilibet.

But during the Invictus Games, Meghan and Harry cosied up to one another.

It came amid rumours Meghan is enforcing a brand separation from her husband after his best-selling book Spare, containing many brutal attacks on his family, seemingly damaged their popularity in the US and UK.
