Priest urges Catholics to watch Meghan’s Netflix show as PENANCE and ‘drink in the mediocrity’

A priest has urged Catholics to watch Meghan’s Netflix show as penance and ‘drink in the mediocrity’ of the series.

Father Brendan Kilcoyne discussed the Duchess of Sussex‘s new Netflix show With Love, Meghan in a video on YouTube, branding the programme ‘b***** awful’.

He took a swipe at one particular segment of the show, in which Meghan collects honey with a beekeeper – claiming that even the bees seemed ‘mortified’ by their ‘riveting’ conversation.

Father Kilcoyne pointed out Meghan’s ‘blindingly white’ and ‘pristinely clean’ bee suit – despite the former actress claiming she has been collecting her own honey for a year – and mocked the balmy dialogue ‘we’re going to have a lot of honey’ – ‘yes we are’.

Discussing Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family, the priest urged his audience to ‘drink in the mediocrity and savour the narrow escape that one of the most distinguished Royal lines in the world has just had’.

He added: ‘Meghan Markle is nemesis. She is the anti-monarchy. Thank God they’re out there in Montecito.’

It comes after the Duchess’s show received a series of scathing reviews, branded a ‘gormless lifestyle filler’ with a ‘tangible desperation’ after it premiered earlier this month.

In Amanda Platell’s Mail+ column, she said the show is ‘so awful it is almost compelling’, while Prince Harry would be as ‘desperate’ as Meghan for it to be successful so they can continue their ‘millionaire LA lifestyles’.

Others from left-leaning publications such as the Guardian warned this could be the last show Meghan and her husband Prince Harry ever make for Netflix if it is not a ratings success – describing it as ‘pointless’.

One said it shows the Duchess is ‘attempting to cling to fame by any means possible’, while another described how she was ‘joylessly filling kids’ party bags with seeds’.

The eight episodes, which are each 33 minutes long, see Meghan inviting famous friends to a California estate where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips.

The Duchess launched ‘With Love, Meghan’ in what was seen as a make-or-break moment for the couple’s $100million streaming deal.

This weekend, Gwyneth Paltrow fans are convinced the actress threw subtle ‘shade’ at Meghan as she filmed herself making breakfast in her own kitchen while wearing pyjamas.

The Goop founder, 52, posted a clip of herself making scones, bacon and eggs on Instagram yesterday.

It presented a stark contrast to Meghan’s cooking series, in which the Duchess looked flawless in luxury designer gear and hired out a kitchen which was not her own.

Gwyneth, on the other hand, went makeup-free while sporting casual striped pyjamas for her video, and used a soundtrack of This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole – which has also been used in promos for Markle’s own Netflix project.

Fans jumped to X to share their thoughts, with one penning: ‘Gwyneth Paltrow continues to throw shade & I’m here for it! No makeup in her actual kitchen!’
