President Donald Trump happily poses with Prince Albert of Monaco at the Super Bowl 2025

He’s made his feelings about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle abundantly clear – but President Donald Trump proved there are still some royals he’s friendly with as he beamed for a snap with Prince Albert of Monaco on Sunday.

The ruler of the principality, 66, who is married to former Olympian, Princess Charlene, cosied up to the American President at the Super Bowl game in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Happily posing for the camera, both leaders were pictured grinning next to one another while at the popular sporting event.

Albert looked effortlessly sophisticated in a navy suit which he paired with a purple tie and white shirt for the occasion, while Trump donned his signature red tie.

Sharing the snap to Instagram, The Embassy of Monaco to the USA & Canada, wrote: ‘H.S.H. Prince Albert II of #Monaco and President Donald Trump @potus catch up during Super Bowl week, celebrating their shared love for sports and camaraderie!’

In another snap, the royal stood for the American national anthem directly behind the President, his daughter Ivanka Trump, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and United States Senator Eric Schmitt.

Trump’s son, Eric, and his wife, Lara, meanwhile, were seen standing next to the smartly-dressed Monaco Prince during the occasion.

The President’s appearance alongside a royal comes after he took aim at Meghan Markle while revealing he had no plans to deport Prince Harry from the US amid a legal battle over his immigration status.

‘I don’t want to do that,’ Trump said on Friday. ‘I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible,’ he told the New York Post.

The President has previously said he is ‘not a fan’ of the Duchess of Sussex – who branded the Republican ‘divisive and misogynistic’ in a 2016 interview – claiming that ‘Harry is whipped’ and ‘is being led around by his nose’.

But in what might be construed as a veiled rebuke of Trump’s insults, Harry made a speech at his Invictus Games at the weekend, praising the veterans’ ‘courage, values and humanity’ at a time ‘when there is no shortage of crises, no absence of uncertainty, no lack of weak moral character in the world’.

Yet the President appeared to have a warm moment with one royal this weekend as he posed for a photograph with Prince Albert.

Prince Albert also attended a Wall Street Journal luncheon and New Orleans Saints’ Gayle Benson’s reception while he was in the country.

He also visited the Sankofa Community Development Corporation in the Ninth Ward and toured the community.

Albert visited New Orleans shortly after Hurricane Katrina to aid in relief efforts and now this Super Bowl week, he wanted to return to the non-profit organisation.

The Prince’s wife Princess Charlene, however, was once again missing from the overseas trip.

The mother-of-two, 46, was spotted with Prince Albert at the funeral of former French minister Didier Guillaume, without her wedding ring last month.

Charlene donned a black mid-length dress for the occasion with sheer black tights and a small Prada leather bag in a matching colour.

The mother-of-two, who entered the event walking behind Albert, styled her blonde tresses in a sleek up do for the occasion and opted for a simple makeup look.

Princess Charlene is often spotted in chic looks and expensive jewellery – but one piece she’s often seen without is her dazzling three-carat engagement ring.

The former Olympic swimmer married Prince Albert after he proposed with a handcrafted pear-cut diamond flanked by smaller diamonds designed by Paris-based Italian jeweller Repossi.

Later, during the wedding service, the couple exchanged 18-carat white gold platinum rings by Cartier, with Princess Charlene laughing as she placed the ring on her husband’s finger.

But since her wedding day, the royal has often gone without either ring – and on occasion even worn different rings on her wedding finger.

In the early days of marriage, the royal was often spotted showing off the dazzler, but since 2017 she’s seldom been seen pictured wearing the rings – even at formal events.
