Popular pasta maker reveals whether Meghan Markle ‘stole’ her one pan spaghetti dish from her Netflix series from Martha Stewart

Popular pasta maker Danny Freeman has once again weighed in on Meghan Markle’s controversial one pot spaghetti dish.
The Duchess of Sussex tackled a dish called ‘skillet spaghetti’ in the first episode of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan.
Traditional methods might see pasta submerged in a large pan of salted boiling water, but the Duchess simply pours ‘three cups’ of boiling water onto raw spaghetti and cooked ingredients and then puts a lid on it.
After giving his appraisal of the controversial dish, TikTok sensation Danny has revisited the recipe amid claims that Meghan ‘stole’ it from domestic doyenne Martha Stewart.
Perhaps tellingly Martha updated her ‘similar’ recipe for one pan pasta a month prior to the premiere of Meghan’s Netflix series.
While the ingredients and method remained the same, Martha updated the recipe description to read: ‘The original and the best’ causing many fans to suggest it was a pointed comment at Meghan.

Danny shared a clip to his Instagram this week to put the claims to the test.
‘I got hundreds of comments from people claiming Meghan stole her viral one pot pasta recipe from Martha Stewart,’ he began.
Referencing Martha updating her recipe, Danny added: ‘Did Martha know something? I mean she is very powerful, but I’m putting her recipe to the test to see how it compares.’
Danny, almost instantly, put paid to claims of culinary chicanery on Meghan’s part, noting the differing ingredients in the two recipes.
‘Just off the bat the recipes have a lot of differences,’ Danny said
‘Meghan uses a lot of greens… she also uses lemon, but they both use a similar one pot method.’
Danny suggested that perhaps Meghan had used Martha’s recipe as inspiration for her one-pot dish.
‘Every recipe is built on other recipes,’ he said.

‘Martha Stewart did not invent one pot pasta and I don’t know if Meghan knew about her recipe, but I think Meghan’s recipe is different enough, that it’s completely her own.’
After making and trying both dishes, Danny then gave his verdict.
‘After trying both, I would never come for Martha Stewart, she’s a legend, but I liked what Meghan did to this technique,’ he said.
‘Once again I’m sticking with Meghan Markle. I don’t think she did anything wrong.’
It appeared that fans agreed with one offering a similar assessment.
‘I have no idea why people think she represented the recipe as her personal invention. She just said she makes it!! It’s insane how much people come for her for nothing at all,’ they wrote.
It comes after Danny also put Meghan’s controversial dish up against Kate Middleton’s mac and cheese.
Before he started making the dish he was adamant he didn’t want to pit the two women against each other.

‘I really don’t want this turning into a post comparing Meghan to Princess Kate, but after my video about trying out Meghan Markle’s pasta made international news, I learned that Kate Middleton is also a fan of pasta,’ Danny began the clip.
‘Maybe this could bring them together. I don’t know.’
While Danny did not have Kate’s exact recipe, he used an interview the Princess Of Wales gave to People Magazine back in 2019 about the foods her children George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, six, love to eat at home.
While Danny stopped short of directly comparing the two royal pasta creations he gave Kate’s dish a tick of approval.
‘I don’t know I could see a royal child eating this – it’s good,’ he said.
‘My daughter thinks she’s a princess and she loves a cheesy sauce.
‘I feel like if you are a princess with chefs working for you but you want to try your hand at a family dinner, this is going to be a quick and easy one to do.’
Danny, who goes by the Instagram name ‘Danny Loves Pasta’, is popular on social media thanks to his creative takes on Italian cooking and pasta making, including ravioli in the shape of Taylor Swift and cartoon characters like Bluey.
