Netflix fans have been going wild as they are urging others to watch 2023’s most streamed show. The first season of The Night Agent was the most-viewed Netflix show to start 2023, according to new numbers from the streaming giant.
Netflix shared the comprehensive list of ratings for the first time on its website Tuesday detailing how many hours each show has been viewed between January and June 2023. It is part of a semi-annual report from the company. The first season of The Night Agent, which was released on March 23, had 812 million hours viewed in just over three months.
Now fans have explained why you have to watch it as they took to social media to sing its praises. One wrote: ‘The Night Agent is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a while.’ Another said: ‘Impatiently waiting on season 2. Hurry up @netflix.’
A third wrote: The night agent on Netflix is sooooo good,; A fourth penned: ‘I just finished The Night Agent on Netflix and oh my gosh. Solid 9/10 for me. I’m obsessed.’ Someone else wrote: ‘The night agent on Netflix got me hookeddd.’
Another person said: ‘The Night Agent on Netflix is such a good series’, while a different fan penned: ‘The night agent is an amazing watch.’ The Night Agent was by far the most successful with 22 percent more views than the program in second place – the second season of Ginny & Georgia. The series stars Gabriel Basso as FBI Agent Peter Sutherland who is thrown into a vast conspiracy about a mole at the highest levels of the United States government.
To save the nation, he plunges into a desperate hunt for the traitor, while protecting former tech CEO Rose Larkin from the people who murdered her aunt and uncle. The second season of Ginny & Georgia was the second most-watched, racking up 665 million hours viewed six months after it was released. Its first season, which came out in February 2021, had an additional 302 million hours watched in 2023.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s unprecedented six-part documentary series on their exit from royal life was watched for a combined 62 million hours. To help put the figures in context, 60 million hours viewed is the equivalent of 1 million people watching a one-hour episode once. Netflix’s engagement report included more than 18,000 titles that represent 99 percent of all options on the platform and in total, nearly 100 billion hours were watched between January and June. The Gory came in third place with 622 million hours watched.
The first season of comedy-horror show Wednesday, which came out in November 2022, racked up 508 million hours of viewing, and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story totaled 503 million hours. You: Season 4, La Reina del Sur: Season 3, and Outer Banks: Season 3, had 441 million hours, 430 million hours and 403 million ,hours viewed, respectively. The first season of Ginny & Georgia was watched for 302 million hours and FUBAR: Season 1 rounded off the top 10 with 266 million hours watched.
Other popular shows in the report included Emily in Paris: Season 3, which was watched for 161 million hours, Black Mirror: Season 6, which was viewed for 140 million hours and Stranger Things 4 was watched for 134 million hours. Reality-dating show Love Is Blind: Season 4 was near the top of the list with 230 million hours viewed – while its first three seasons had a combined 11 million hours watched. There were almost 4,000 shows from various different countries at the bottom of the list with just 100,000 hours viewed. Netflix insisted the number of hours watched does not determine a show’s success. ‘Success on Netflix comes in all shapes and sizes, and is not determined by hours viewed alone,’ it said in the report.
‘We have enormously successful movies and TV shows with both lower and higher hours viewed. ‘It’s all about whether a movie or TV show thrilled its audience — and the size of that audience relative to the economics of the title. ‘To compare between titles it’s best to use our weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists, which take into account run times and premiere dates.’ The streaming giant announced it will publish its viewing figures for almost all of its shows twice a year in a move it believes is a ‘big step forward for Netflix and our industry.’ It added: ‘We believe the viewing information in this report — combined with our weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists — will give creators and our industry deeper insights into our audiences, and what resonates with them.’ Read the full story:https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12858607/Netflix-fans-watch-2023-streamed-show.html?ito=msngallery
