Dolly Parton’s sister comes out as Meghan Markle’s biggest defender

Dolly Parton‘s sister, Stella, has come out in defense of Meghan Markle amid criticism of her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
The eight-episode series, which premiered early this month, has garnered a large amount of attention from viewers and commentators alike.
Many have panned the show as ‘out of touch,’ as she welcomed famous friends like comedian Mindy Kaling and Suits actress Abigail Spencer into a sprawling, rented Montecito home to whip up various recipes and make home décor items, like beeswax candles.
Ex-Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown slammed the series after it premiered, calling it a ‘show about fake perfection,’ while actress Justine Bateman even mocked the program on X.
Those were just a few among many scathing reviews of the series’ first season.
However, it looks like Stella won’t stand for any Meghan Markle slander, as she replied to a thread on X with discourse about the show.
The thread had over 140 responses, one of which was Parton’s sisters take.
‘They hate that Meghan is so smart, talented and kind not to mention beautiful! They can’t stand that Meghan checks all the boxes. Meghan Markle is the daughter every parent should want,’ Stella wrote on the platform.

And, interestingly enough, it looks like the Parton’s interest in the British Royal Family may run in their blood.
In November, Dolly Parton herself formally extended an invite to the British Royal children to spend a day at her Tennessee amusement park, Dollywood.
The request comes as Parton recently revealed during a new interview with Closer Magazine that Kate Middleton invited her to tea at Buckingham Palace last year.
Unfortunately, the 9 to 5 singer was unable to make it, but would love to have the family in her home state.
‘Oh, I would absolutely love for them to come to Dollywood, that would be fantastic!’ Parton told Closer at the time.
‘The kids could go on all the rides and we would treat them like royalty!’ she continued.
Parton even knows what she would feed the Princess of Wales if they ever came to visit.
‘I’d give Kate my mashed potatoes – I wouldn’t put on any airs for them,’ Parton said.

‘I would just let them enjoy what we enjoy, and I’m sure that’s the way they would want it. I would love to have those kids at Dollywood.’
In 1986, the Jolene hitmaker joined theme park owners Jack and Pete Herschend of the Branson-based Herschend Enterprises to transform what was once a park called Silver Dollar City into Dollywood.
The park, which features a wide assortment of rides and roller coasters, is the most-visited tourist attraction in the state, drawing in millions of visitors last year.
And, while she didn’t say anything specifically about Meghan and Prince Harry’s two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, if she’s anything like her sister, it looks like Dolly would be open to hosting them come to Tennessee, too.
Stella’s sentiments about Meghan come as Gwyneth Paltrow broke her silence on how she really feels about The Duchess, after many have compared her new show and lifestyle brand to Paltrow’s Goop.
Interestingly enough, Paltrow and Meghan live quite close to each other in the small area of Montecito.
However, The Avengers actress is also blocking out the noise when it comes to critics of her neighbor.
‘I don’t know Meghan and Harry,’ Gwyneth divulged to Vanity Fair in a new interview published Tuesday.
‘I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,’ she continued. ‘Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.’
The actress admitted that she hadn’t seen the duchess’ new show, but is not feeling any competition between the two.
She told Vanity Fair that when ‘there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them.’
The mom-of-two told the outlet that she embraces bringing Meghan, and others, into the wellness and lifestyle space.
‘I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,’ Gwyneth said.
‘I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,’ she continued.
