Duchess of Sussex

Meghan Markle wasn’t invited to Suits reunion at Golden Globes with Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht and Sarah Rafferty because they ‘don’t have her number’, reveals former co-star Gina Torres

Cast members from TV show Suits reunited on stage at the Golden Globes on Sunday night – but there was one notable star missing.

Patrick Adams and Gabriel Macht, who played lawyers Mike Ross and Harvey Specter in the American legal drama, presented the best TV drama award before they were joined by fellow stars Gina Torres and Sarah Rafferty.

But Meghan Markle, 42, didn’t attend the star-studded 81st annual ceremony in Los Angeles alongside her former co-stars.

Speaking to Variety at the Golden Globes, Torres seemingly revealed the reason behind the Duchess of Sussex‘s lack of appearance.

‘We don’t have her number. We just don’t so. She’ll see. She’ll watch. She’ll be happy that we’re here,’ said the 54-year-old US actress, who attended the Royal wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan in 2018.

Torres – who played Jessica Pearson on the hit Netflix show – was asked about Sunday’s Suits reunion, with the interviewer asking: ‘Did you plan this? Are you all texting each other?

She explained: ‘When it all came through, we were all texting each other. Yes, our text thread is insane right now. So it’s very exciting.’

Cast members from Suits reunited on stage at the Golden Globes, poking fun at the series’ new found success on Netflix.

Making a gag about how the show has gained recent prominence since launching on the streaming giant, Macht said: ‘There is nothing more dramatic or anxiety-inducing than waiting all night to hear that our category has finally arrived.’

Adams, who exited the show at the end of season seven alongside his on-screen wife Meghan following her real life engagement to Prince Harry, joked: ‘It is hard to imagine having to wait so long to see your show get that kind of recognition.’

The four Suits stars presented Succession with the gong for best drama series.

Suits originally aired on USA Network for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019, and saw genius college dropout Mike Ross (Adams) join a high-profile law firm alongside Harvey Specter (Macht), Jessica Pearson (Torres) and Louis Litt (Rick Hoffman), while Rafferty played Harvey’s no-nonsense assistant Donna Paulsen.

The Duchess played Rachel Zane, a paralegal who becomes a formidable attorney and eventually marries Mike Ross.

Earlier in the night while walking the red carpet, Macht discussed the show’s reawakened popularity.

‘It’s an amazing thing. We had some great success when the show was on… and then at a certain point, Netflix came in. It’s just gotten incredible eyes and we’re very grateful for it,’ he shared as per EW.

Adams and Macht happily posed on the red carpet together, both looking sharp in classy black tuxedoes.

Patrick was also joined by wife Troian Bellisario who stunned in a shimmering silver gown.

Meanwhile Torres wowed in a plunging black silk top and monochrome maxi skirt, while Rafferty was a vision in a halter-neck baby blue gown with a ruffle finish.

The cast members’ appearance came after Suits surprisingly spent 12 straight weeks as the most-streamed title in the United States, according to Nielsen data, which tallies total minutes viewed across all streaming platforms.

Aside from Netflix, Suits is also available on NBC’s streaming platform Peacock. Between Netflix and Peacock, viewership for Suits hit the 2.359 billion minute mark.

Suits was added to Netflix in June, and quickly attracted viewers with its binge-friendly catalogue of 134 episodes spanning nine seasons.
