Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s sprawling nine-bedroom California mansion doubles in value
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may have raised eyebrows over their lifestyle choices – but their eye for good real estate seems to have paid off.
Their sprawling nine-bedroom home, located in Montecito, has reportedly doubled in value since they purchased the home in 2020, as per Zillow.
Their massive abode is now worth upwards of $29 million, up from the humble $14.65 million they purchased it for.
The California Association of Realtors (CAR) reported that California had its ‘largest yearly increase in existing home sales since June 2021’ during the same month.
According to Redfin, in November 2024, the number of homes sold in California was up by 12.4 percent year over year.
Hannah Jones, a senior economic research analyst for Realtor.com, told Newsweek the median home price in California has risen 29.7 percent in the past five years.
Within that time, Montecito overtook California with a whopping 47.3 percent in property prices.
Meghan and Harry’s home, known as the ‘The Chateau,’ was built in 2003.

The gorgeous estate is surrounded by lush green gardens and overlooking the sea, the home has been described as a ‘hidden paradise.’
The house sits on 5.4 acres of land and immaculately clipped hedges border the estate’s stone-pillared entry gates.
Property listings say the home took nearly five years to build and included a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage.
The entrance to the property opens onto a wide lane paved with hand-cut Santa Barbara Stone that leads through a grand archway of trees to the main residence, according to Zillow.
The estate has sweeping lawns, tiered rose gardens, tall Italian cypress trees, blooming lavender, century old olive trees, a tennis court, tea house, children’s cottage and a pool.
It also boasts a two-bedroom, two-bath guest house.
Despite the beautiful backdrop, the Duchess did not film her upcoming Netflix series in the home she shares with her husband and two children, Archie, five and Lilibet, three.

Megaham filmed her upcoming Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, in an idyllic $8million estate nestled within a gated community
DailyMail.com can reveal Meghan is not using her own Montecito mansion, but instead using the kitchen of philanthropists Tom and Sherrie Cipolla (production trucks and tents are seen at the property)
The 43-year-old chose to rent a sprawling estate just two miles from her Montecito property to film her upcoming lifestyle show.
The idyllic $8 million estate is reportedly nestled within a gated community, boasting eight acres of avocado trees and lemon groves and is owned by Montecito’s influential Cipolla family.
Tom and Sherrie Cipolla, fixtures in the high society circles of the American Riviera, are both in their 70s. They are prominent philanthropists with a $20 million property portfolio, which includes a physical therapy practice with over $1.3 million in annual sales.
Their 4,500sqft home, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms, has stunning French doors that open to a patio, lawn, and breath-taking mountain views.
Based on the trailer posted on her new Instagram account earlier in the week, it is the stage for Meghan to showcase her cooking and homemaking skills, along with a slew of A-list celebrity friends.
