Marks and Spencer has launched an unexpected sale on clothing, with up to 50% off a wide selection of items. With payday upon us, it’s a great time to treat yourself, whether you’ve been eyeing up something for a while or are looking to treat yourself to a new spring wardrobe.
As a fashion writer, I’m always on the lookout for the newest items on the high street and was surprised to see that several pieces from Marks and Spencer’s newest collection are included in the sale.
While browsing, I spotted items starting from just £10.50 and hefty savings on key wardrobe staples, including spring coats and jackets. But a word of warning: You’ll need to be quick if you want to snap up some of the best deals. As I was looking through the sale section, some of the most popular items were vanishing before my eyes as shoppers filled their baskets.
Luckily, some of my top picks are still on offer. To help with inspiration, I’ve rounded up just a few of the discounted items that have caught my eye (and may have made their way into my own shopping basket). These include some of the cheapest prices and biggest savings that I’ve noticed currently available on the website.
If Marks and Spencer isn’t your go-to, the good news is there are plenty of other high-street brands offering early spring sales right now. Seasalt Cornwall currently has discounts of up to 50% off dresses, raincoats, and more, and White Stuff has a sale on the brand’s signature patterned dresses, blouses, and knitwear.
Textured Slash Neck Top – £10.50
Get the M&S top for just £10.50. (Image: M&S)
Textured fabrics are a big trend for 2025, and if you want to add some interest to an outfit but prefer a monochrome look, these affordable tops could become hard-working additions to your wardrobe.
Suitable for casual, everyday wear with jeans and trainers but also easy to dress up with a skirt and boots, these could be a base layer for endless outfits come spring. In the M&S sale, you can buy them for just £10.50 in black or buttermilk.
Merino Wool Ribbed Cardigan with Cashmere – £51
Embrace spring pastels with this cashmere cardigan. (Image: M&S)
Pastels are always popular in springtime, and yellow is a great way to uplift an outfit. Shades of buttery yellow are also set to be a big trend for spring 2025.
Once temperatures warm up and there’s no need for a coat, a good piece of knitwear may be all you need. This Ribbed Cardigan contains cashmere for softness and merino wool for warmth.
The cardigan, from Marks and Spencer’s most premium collection, Autograph, would usually cost £85, but it is on sale for £51.
Leather Metallic Side Detail Trainers – £29
Save £20.50 off these on-trend trainers. (Image: M&S)
Metallic trainers are an ongoing fashion trend, with big-brand names like Adidas and Onitsuka Tiger releasing their shimmering sneakers. However, given that these name brands sell anywhere from £70 to over £100, it’s nice to spot a more affordable take on the trend.
Marks and Spencer has dropped the price of the Leather Metallic Side Detail Trainers from £49.50 to £29 as of today.
Simple but effective, these would stand out even with a plain outfit. If I were wearing them, I’d pair them with dark blue jeans for contrasting colours, but they’d also be fun to add some sparkle to a summer dress.
Textured Whipstitch Knitted Vest Top – £17.50
Make the most of spring layering with this knitted vest (Image: M&S)
Spring is all about layering, and a knitted vest is one of the most versatile pieces you can add to your transitional wardrobe. You can throw it on over long-sleeved shirts and T-shirts or even wear it alone when the sun’s out. The straightforward contrast stitch design of the Mark’s and Spencer knitted vest is much easier to style than a bright colour, plus you can add any colour in your layer underneath.
Discounted from £29.50 to just £17.50, you don’t have to spend a fortune to be stylish—but be quick, as it’s one of few pieces I spotted that is still in stock in all sizes (at the time of writing).
Longline Denim Midi Skirt – £32
Save £23 off this versatile skirt (Image: M&S)
Denim is popular all year round, but a denim midi skirt is a good alternative if you want a change from jeans. The Longline Denim Midi Skirt from Sosander is in the sale at Marks and Spencer, reduced from £55 to £32.
This is the perfect mid-blue shade for pairing with white, cream, and pastel shades in the spring months.
I would wear this with a knitted vest or a cardigan in the spring, and because of the longer length, it would pair best with a cropped jacket to balance out the proportions or accentuate your waist. As the weather heats up, I’d pair it with a simple white T-shirt.
