Marks and Spencer is kicking off summer in style with the launch of its up to half-price sale, and while there are deals across everything from menswear to childrenswear, it’s the women’s summer fashion that has really caught my eye. With sunshine-filled getaways finally on the horizon, it’s the perfect excuse to snap up some holiday-ready pieces without paying full price.

Some of the standout discounts in the sale are a generous 50% off, and I’ve spotted stylish finds starting from as little as £10. Even better, a few of the pieces are popular, newer arrivals that haven’t been on shelves long and are already racking up glowing customer reviews.

So if your summer wardrobe could do with a refresh, now might be the perfect time to dive in. But, as has become the case with many of Marks and Spencer’s most popular launches and sales lately, the best bargains and trending pieces are likely to disappear fast. The retailer has even described it as a “blink, and you might miss it” sale – and honestly, I already know I’ll be filling my online basket today.

This pure cotton smocked detail top caught my eye in the store a few months ago, and now that it’s landed in the sale, the discounted price feels even more tempting. Originally £26, the top is now down to £13.

It’s right on trend for summer, thanks to its flattering slash neck, shirred and smocked detailing, and delicate bow ties at the sides. The top comes in four colours (red, black, white and red gingham) all of which are included in the sale. At the time of writing, the vibrant red version has the best availability, though some sizes are already selling out.

The bold pop of colour feels made for summer holidays, and I can easily picture it styled with denim shorts and sandals for those easy daytime strolls while exploring somewhere new.

The top currently has a five-star customer satisfaction rating, with one shopper saying: “Great summer top bought for my holidays, it looks good and the white one will go with everything, very slimming.”

Another person added that it is “true to size” and “very flattering”.

In a review, a shopper described it as a lovely “summer skirt”, though added: “I like this skirt, but sadly, although I bought my normal size 12, it was too big, although the petite length was good (I’m 5’3). I’ve had to return it.”
