LA prosecutors ‘will NOT file felony charges against ex-Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias’ over claims he slammed a woman into a fence at Inter Miami game attended by Prince Harry and Leonardo DiCaprio in September
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has reportedly ruled that no felony charges will be filed against former Dodgers pitcher Julio Urias over an alleged assault.
Urias was arrested in September after someone saw a physical altercation between a man and a woman outside a Major League Soccer stadium and contacted police, according to the arrest report.
As TMZ Sports reported at the time, law enforcement officials were told Urias came up from behind a woman, put his arm around her and slammed her into a fence, pulling her hair.
Now though, according to ESPN, the case will move to the City Attorney’s Office, where midsdemeanor charges will be considered. Urias is a currently a free agent after his Dodgers contract expired at the end of last season.
Back in December the investigation into the assault allegations was completed by California Highway Patrol, leaving the LA County District Attorney to decide if the evidence warranted charges against the 27-year-old southpaw.

Previous reports claimed the woman Urias was with became upset at him posing for pictures with female fans at the Major League Soccer game.
TMZ said the alleged victim was left with strangulation marks on her neck. Urias was also accused of taking a swing at her.
The report said DPS officers were patrolling outside the stadium after the soccer match in which Lionel Messi played in front of numerous celebrities, including Prince Harry, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Norton, Jason Sudeikis, Owen Wilson, and Mario Lopez as well as LAFC owners, Will Ferrell and Magic Johnson.
They were contacted by someone, whose name was not publicly identified, regarding a physical altercation between a man and a woman.
The report said DPS officers talked to the individuals involved and determined a physical altercation occurred. The investigation resulted in Urias’ arrest on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

Urias posted $50,000 bail and was released hours later. He was then placed on indefinite administrative leave by Major League Baseball and was unavailable for the 2023 postseason.
The leave was imposed under baseball’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ association in 2015 and can be the first step toward a suspension. Players are paid but cannot play while on leave.
Urias, a 27-year-old Mexican-born pitcher, was previously arrested in May 2019 for domestic battery.
He was suspended 20 games by MLB, but he wasn’t prosecuted by the Los Angeles city attorney on the condition he complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program. No player has been suspended twice under MLB’s joint domestic violence policy.
