H Samuel launches service for ‘permanent jewellery’ you never take off
H Samuel has launched a new service welding bracelets around shoppers’ wrists to create “permanent jewellery“. The trend is sweeping social media as a symbol of everlasting bonds between friends and family.
The concept of permanent jewellery is simple: it’s designed to be worn continuously without the need for clasps. H Samuel’s website explains that these pieces offer a “seamless design” and although they are intended to be permanent, they can be removed by cutting if necessary.
Highlighting the significance of such an accessory, the site notes, “Permanent jewellery can be a sign of commitment and hold special meaning whether it’s adding sentimental charms or getting a matching one with your BFF as a symbol of your friendship.”
Catering to all ages, H Samuel’s new ‘Perfect Weld’ permanent jewellery service welcomes clients from seven years upwards, with under 16s requiring the presence of an adult. The full experience, including consultation and welding, is offered during a 30-minute slot at select stores across the UK, such as Kent, Essex, London, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Sheffield, according to Yorkshire Live.
A H Samuel spokesperson said: “Our trained welding experts will help you choose your chain, curate charms, and measure your wrist to find your desired length for welding. It is then time to get welded. The process only takes a few minutes as the chain is welded around your wrist.”
“The high heat used by our laser closes the loop in such a way that it will not come undone and there is no need for a clasp. The result? A piece of permanent jewellery you’ll want to wear forever.”
H Samuel’s range of permanent jewellery includes 925 sterling silver, 14/20 gold filled, and 9ct white, yellow, and rose gold options, steering clear of base metals or cheap alloys to minimise skin reactions. The brand assures customers that their permanent jewellery can withstand daily activities like swimming and showering, touting its durability for continuous wear.
However, it does warn that the welding point on permanent jewellery may weaken over time with prolonged exposure to chlorine, recommending a rinse with clean water after a dip in chlorinated or salt water, followed by a gentle pat dry.
“The best thing about permanent jewellery is that it is welded on and designed to be worn forever,” said the spokesperson. “But if you do need to remove it, you can visit us in-store to have it cut by someone from our dedicated welding team, or carefully at home yourself using nail clippers.”
The cost of this everlasting adornment varies based on the material, finish, chain type, and any added charms. There’s no fee for H Samuel’s welding service, with customers only paying for the jewellery itself. Prices start at £40 for permanent bracelets and £30 for charms.
Welded jewellery is currently available at H Samuel’s stores in Bluewater Shopping Centre, Kent, Lakeside Shopping Centre, Thurrock, Metrocentre in Gateshead, Liverpool One, Oxford Circus, Birmingham Bullring and Sheffield Meadowhall stores.
