Good Morning Britain poke fun at Meghan Markle by making their own rainbow platter with an unpeeled banana, brown apples and cornflakes

Good Morning Britain poked fun at Meghan Markle today as the former actress debuted her series with Netflix.

In her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex revealed she makes a fruit platter in the shape of a rainbow for her children’s breakfast on the weekends.

The clip was shared to Instagram yesterday as a sneak peak ahead of the show’s debut today – with many people shocked at the simplicity of the hack.

Today, Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Arnold poked fun at the former royal as he showed off his own ‘rainbow platter’ complete with an unpeeled banana, sprinkles of cornflakes and browning apple chunks.

After showing a clip of Meghan’s documentary to viewers, the camera then cut to Richard laughing as he joked: ‘Here’s one we made earlier’ as he gestured to a chopping board filled with cubed apples, grapes and prunes.

‘This is why I never do a cookery show,’ he said.

‘We’ve got some grapes here which I’ve been reliably informed have been washed,’ he added.

He then joked that he doesn’t normally have to peel his own bananas and  that he hadn’t added dried flowers – unlike Meghan.

As he showed off his finished plate of fruit complete with sprinkles, he cheekily added ‘And there you have it, from Dickie, With Love.’

Susanna Reid joked: ‘In the old days it used to be called a fruit salad’.

Speaking in her with lifestyle show, Meghan revealed she makes platters to ‘make the morning more fun’.

‘It’s a real delight in being able to be a present parent. And it’s a luxury sometimes because we all have to work. We all have a lot of stuff to do.

‘But when you can take a minute to just… finding the fun in those moments, makes for a really sweet start to the weekend,’ added Meghan, before finishing off her colourful display with yogurt and flower sprinkles.

‘It doesn’t need to be big for a party, it’s how you incorporate these practices everyday,’ concluded the Duchess.

It comes as Meghan has seemingly made a subtle dig at the Royal Family at the end of her the show, saying her ‘new chapter’ was ‘part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much’.

The Duchess of Sussex also spoke about ‘healing’ something ‘broken’ after she previously accused royal aides of preventing her from expressing her true self during her time in Britain.

This morning, the former actress’s lifestyle series ‘With Love, Meghan’ premiered in a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes and their bumper $100million Netflix deal.

She closed the last of eight episodes with a speech to guests including her husband Prince Harry and mother Doria Ragland, saying: ‘I just want to raise a glass to you guys. This feels like a new chapter that I’m so excited that I’m able to share and I’ve been able to learn from all of you. So I just thank you for all the love and support.

‘And here we go, there’s a business! All of that is part of that creativity that I’ve missed so much, so thank you for loving me so much and celebrating with me.’

Meghan is also seen speaking to Harry about the party she organised for the show: ‘It’s good, right?’ He says: ‘Well done. You did a great job.’ Meghan adds: ‘Thank you.’ And Harry then says: ‘I love it.’

It comes five years after Meghan and Harry acrimoniously stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family and began a new life in California, which has been followed by a series of barbs about other royals and the struggles they had in the UK.

Now, the new series ‘With Love, Meghan’ has come out, with eight episodes timed at about half an hour each launching at 8am in the UK and midnight in California.

Earlier in the final episode, while making salad, Meghan – who returned to the US in 2020 – also says of the final dish: ‘It tastes like home, and I’ve missed California.’

In another nod to her troubled time with the Royal Family, in episode five her Suits co-star Abgail Spencer says ‘we’ve all been through a lot’ – then glances at Meghan.

In episode seven, Meghan also spoke about ‘healing’ when she discussed Kintsugi, Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, with her millionaire neighbour Vicky Tsai.

The Duchess told her: ‘You gave me this idea, I think it’s so meaningful, that if you break something that is precious and valuable, it’s not broken. That that fracture, and you taught me this, that that fracture actually makes it more beautiful, that break makes it more beautiful.

‘And I just think that it felt really symbolic of saying to anyone if you’ve been through something, you’re not broken. It can be fixed, it can be sealed and healed at the same time’.

Ms Tsai then says: ‘Or celebrated because it’s what makes you beautiful… perfect isn’t beautiful. Things that have lived and been dropped and put back together again are more beautiful.’

Filmed in the kitchen of a rented £5million mansion near the Sussexes’ Montecito villa, the new show promises an intimate ‘at home’ experience with Meghan.

But royal sources say it could be a make-or-break moment for Meghan and husband Prince Harry as they seek to salvage a $100million deal with the streaming giant.
