Duchess of Sussex

Awkward moment Prince Harry and Meghan Markle appear to hesitate as they’re shown to their seats several rows back at glitzy One Love: Bob Marley screening in Jamaica

A clip showing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex taking to their seats at the premiere of the Bob Marley: One Love biopic has surfaced.

The couple attended the glitzy event at the Carib Theatre, during which they chatted with anti-monarchist Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, earlier this week.

Now this short video which has emerged shows the former senior royals being shown to their seats, which are several rows back.

The clip appears to show Harry, 39, looking slightly downcast as he makes his way to his seat, following his wife.

Meanwhile, Meghan, 42, is seen smiling as she holds up her large gown and makes her way down the cinema aisles.

The Duchess wore a black gown for the event, with a strappy black top which showed off her arms and shoulders paired with a taffeta Carolina Herrera maxiskirt.

She accessorised the look with her classic ‘J Box clutch’ from Jimmy Choo (worth £750, or around $952.75) – one of her staple items, which she has worn multiple times over the years.

It is thought by royal watchers, including Royal Fashion Police on Instagram, to have sported 18K Gold earrings from Jennifer Meyer Jewellery, costing $3,250 (around £2,558.37).

She wore what looked to be an understated make-up look, with her hair pulled into a simple bun.

Meanwhile, Harry sported a two-piece navy suit, with a white suit, and no tie, going for a more casual look.

The pair’s appearance at the biopic has caused some controversy, due to Meghan and Harry – who stepped down from royal duties four years ago – posing with prime minister Andrew Holness and his wife Juliet at the premiere.

Andrew has said his country is ‘moving on’ from the British monarchy. Harry’s father, King Charles, is currently head of state of Jamaica.

The process to sever ties with the British monarchy is underway, following in the footsteps of another former Caribbean possession, Barbados.

Much like the island county’s severance with the monarchy, Prince Harry too revoked his HRH titles and sensationally moved on from being a working royal in early 2020.

He moved to North America with his wife Meghan, who he wed in 2018.

Meghan and Harry now reside in Montecito, California, with their two children, Archie and Lilibet. The Sussexes have made very few public and personal trips back to the UK since leaving their duties behind.

The couple have had many ventures in the entertainment industry since their royal departure. They signed multimillion-dollar deals with Netflix and Spotify to produce podcasts and docuseries, discussing their life within the royal fold.

Six months ago, they parted ways with their $20million Spotify deal, following the production of Meghan’s ‘Archetypes’ podcast series.

Lip reader Jeremy Freeman spoke to FEMAIL about what the former senior royals had said to the prime minister about the film.

He said that the Duchess branded the movie as ‘perfect’.

‘It’s amazing,’ she gushed, in a brief clip from the event, shared to the politician’s Instagram Story.

And Jeremy added that Duke of Sussex, appeared to compliment the ‘good job’ that was done on the film.

‘Nice to… pleased to meet you,’ he added.

Elsewhere, the lip-reader said Andrew had asked Meghan ‘what she thought of it’ – most likely referring to the biopic.

‘Yes, it was perfect,’ she said. Then, the Duchess pointed to her husband and added: ‘Yes, I’m sure he’ll tell you. It’s perfect.’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also turned heads as they posed for photos and shook hands with actors at the event

The pair posed with the president and CEO of Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon, Brian Robbins, and his wife Tracy James.

The Sussex’s outing comes at a difficult time for the Royal Family, with the Princess of Wales recovering in hospital from scheduled abdominal surgery and the Duchess of York revealing at the weekend that she has skin cancer.

The Princess of Wales is said to be ‘doing well’ after going under the knife for her abdominal operation at The London Clinic near Regent’s Park last week.

She will remain in the exclusive clinic for up to 14 days, and is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter.

Meanwhile, Sarah, 64, was diagnosed with malignant melanoma – an aggressive form of skin cancer – after several moles were removed during reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy in June.

One was identified as cancerous and she is now undergoing further medical checks to make sure the cancer has been caught in the early stages.

In addition, King Charles has revealed he will be going under the knife and having surgery for an enlarged prostate.
