Queen Camilla to launch eight-part podcast featuring guests including Dame Joanna Lumley and Sir Ian Rankin
- Queen Camilla to launch ‘The Queen’s Reading Room’, an eight-part audio series
- Guests will include Sir Ian Rankin and Dame Joanna Lumley
It’s a podcast series that brings you some of the art world’s best and brightest – with any comparisons to a similar venture by the Duchess of Sussex quickly dismissed.
Camilla will tomorrow launch the first of an eight-part audio series of her online book club, The Queen’s Reading Room, featuring guests such as Dame Joanna Lumley and Sir Ian Rankin, with contributions from the Queen about her own reading habits.
However, perhaps to avoid comparisons with Meghan’s Archetypes podcast, the Queen will not be the host. Instead, her contributions were recorded in one sitting last month and will feature on each weekly episode.

Vicki Perrin, chief executive of The Queen’s Reading Room charity, who will present the podcast, said: ‘She is [a natural podcaster]. It was done in one take, which is a difficult thing to do… It’s a really lovely and intimate thing.’
She added it was not a rival project to Archetypes, which ended after just one series, along with the Sussexes’ multi-million-pound deal with Spotify.
‘This is a production made in-house with a budget [that is] quite different,’ Ms Perrin said. ‘We are an independent charity and we are thrilled Her Majesty features on the podcast.
‘But it is not her podcast. She is not launching this as a host.’
