Meghan Markle’s estranged friend Jessica Mulroney says she’s been targeted with anti-Semitic messages since attending pro-Israel rally

Jessica Mulroney says she’s been targeted with anti-Semitic abuse online after she attended a pro-Israeli rally in Toronto this week. 

The stylist, 43, took to Instagram saying she’s had an ‘an emotional few days’ after receiving the hate online. 

Meghan Markle‘s former best friend has often spoken out about her Jewish faith and ‘family links’ to the Holocaust.

She wrote: ‘Between the hundreds of anti-Semitic messages in my inbox to the horrifying videos of torture and so many families in pain, we must continue to pray for resolve. Power through. It’s been an emotional few days.’

Jessica Mulroney has revealed that she has received a string of anti-Semitic messages this week after she attended a rally in support of Israel in Toronto and posted about it on social media

Hamas launched its biggest assault on Israel in years early on Saturday, firing a barrage of rockets from Gaza and sending fighters across the border. 

Earlier this week, Mulroney shared a photo of herself at a demonstration in Toronto denouncing the attacks. 

She called for ‘truth and justice’ in the impassioned post about her Jewish faith.

She wrote: ‘As a Jewish woman, I’ve enjoyed the relative safety of growing up and living in Canada,’ she penned.

‘However, I’ve felt the spectre of anti-Semitism around every corner. When a gunman shoots up a synagogue, there’s always a voice whispering “They had it coming.”‘

‘When white supremacists chant “Jews will not replace us”, those anti Jewish voices grow louder. And, two days ago, when Hamas terrorists killed more Jews in a single day than have been killed on any other day since the Holocaust, those voices of hatred reached a fever pitch.

‘Tonight in Mel Lastman Square, the Jewish people of Toronto, their leaders, friends and Allies said in one single voice, louder than any voice of hate: WE stand on the right side of history. WE stand for truth, WE stand for justice, WE stand with Israel.’

Jessica held an Israeli flag in the photo, looking at the camera amid a crowd of people gathered in the city. 

It is not the first time Jessica has spoken out about her Jewish faith. In 2020, she was accused of criticising portraits of Holocaust survivors released by Kate Middleton.

‘Pretty pictures are pretty pictures,’ she had said. ‘Strive to use your platform for good and spread stories of incredible people striving to make this world a better place.’

What seemed like an innocuous comment was seized upon by some frenzied fans of the Princess of Wales as a dig at the then-Duchess.

Meghan Markle’s former best friend quickly released a statement on her Instagram saying she is a ‘proud Jewish woman’ with ‘family links’ to the Holocaust, calling critics ‘shameful and ‘uninformed’.  

Elsewhere, other A-listers, including Madonna, Natalie Portman and Ivanka Trump have also penned their support for Israel following the attacks on Saturday morning.

‘Love and prayers for the people of Israel,’ Ivanka, who converted to Judaism when she married her husband, Jared Kushner, an Orthodox Jew, in 2009, wrote in a post on her Instagram Story. 

‘What is Happening in Israel is Devastating. Watching all of these families and especially children being herded, assaulted and murdered in the streets is Heartbreaking. Imagine if this was happening to you?? It’s Un-fathomable,’ Madonna wrote in a post alongside a video showing the timeline of the recent terror attacks. 

‘Conflicts can never be resolved with violence. Unfortunately, Humanity does not understand this Universal truth. My heart goes out to Israel. To Families and Homes that have been destroyed. To children who are lost. To Innocent Victims who have Been Killed. Let us all Pray. For Israel. For Peace,’ the legendary singer added.  

Israeli-born Oscar-winner Natalie Portman wrote that her ‘heart is shattered for the people of Israel.’

‘Children, women and the elderly have been murdered and abducted from their own homes. I am in horror at these barbaric acts and my heart is pounding with love and prayer for the families of all affected,’ Portman, who disabled comments on her post, added.

Israel’s military sent one evacuation order directly on Friday morning, telling the 1.1 million people living north of an area called Wadi Gaza to move south. This would mean the entire population of Gaza City and its surroundings fleeing their homes.

According to translations of the IDF flyers online, the army told residents that ‘terrorist organisations have started the war against the State of Israel.’

As a result, it said ‘Gaza City has become a battlefield’ and told residents they had to evacuate ‘Punik immediately and go to the south of the Gaza Valley.’

It also issued a stark warning to Palestinians not to try and cross into Israel.

‘For your security and safety: You should not return to Piona until further notice by the Israel Defense Army,’ the flyers said. ‘Generally and well-known shelters in Gaza City must be evacuated. It is forbidden to approach the security wall, and everyone who is approaching exposes himself to death.’

A small map was also printed on the bottom of the flyer, with arrows pointing from the north of Gaza to the south, showing the 1.1 million Palestinians which way to flee.

The UN says it is impossible to move that many people without devastating humanitarian consequences, and has urged Israel to rescind the order.

The 2.3 million people living in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip are densely packed into a sliver of land that is just 25 miles long and 7 miles wide which is already largely without power and where hospitals are overwhelmed.

Israel has killed more than 1,530 people in Gaza with airstrikes and cut off food, water and electricity since Hamas terrorists killed more than 1,300 in Israel.
