£25 buy is ‘game changer’ for ‘ugly’ nails this sandal season

Despite five heatwaves in a row, many have still been avoiding wearing sandals because of discoloured, thickened or damaged toenails. However, an under £25 Amazon buy could be the ideal solution for those battling fungal nail infections.

Fungal nail infections are incredibly common but are notoriously difficult to treat, leaving nails looking yellow, brittle, thick or misshapen. According to the NHS, they often begin after a fungal skin infection, such as athlete’s foot, with warm, damp environments created by sweaty feet, tight-fitting shoes, communal changing rooms and swimming pools all increase the risk of developing the condition.

Over-the-counter products can help improve the appearance of their nails and support healthy regrowth. One option currently being praised by shoppers online is the Dermavia+ Fungal Nail Treatment Pen, which costs £24.99 at Amazon.

The treatment has been developed to target fungal nail infections while helping to improve the appearance of yellowing and damaged nails. The easy-to-use twist pen delivers the serum directly onto the affected area using a precision brush applicator.

The formula combines pharmaceutical-grade active ingredients with eucalyptus, lavender and orange peel oils, alongside biotin to support stronger, healthier-looking nails as they grow. According to the brand, visible improvements can begin to appear within two to four weeks of consistent use.

Moreover, the treatment is suitable for all skin types, including diabetics, who can’t always use certain solutions. As for the application process, users can simply wash and thoroughly dry the nail before brushing the treatment onto the affected area and surrounding skin and allowing it to dry.

Elsewhere, at Boots, the Nailner Multi-Action Fungal Nail Treatment Pen costs £25.99. The formula is said to help brighten discoloured, dry, or brittle nails to visibly improve their appearance.

Alternatively, Superdrug offers this Superdrug Fungal Nail Treatment Kit for under £20. This product takes a dual approach containing a fungal nail pen to treat fungal nail infections and a shoe spray to kill the fungus and bacteria in shoes that cause re-infection.

But back at Amazon, the Dermavia+ Fungal Nail Treatment Pen has earned a number of positive reviews from shoppers. One customer wrote: “I have had one small ugly yellowing toenail for many years. I had visited a foot specialist in the past and they said, ‘It’s just an age thing’. Well, after one application of this stuff, I thought, ‘Am I seeing things?’ The yellowing disappeared within hours. My feet look young and pretty again. Great product.”

Another reviewer described it as a ‘game changer,’ adding: “After two weeks of use, I started to notice visible improvement, with the nail looking clearer as it grew out. Make sure to stick with it, the results are worth it.”

However, not every review was entirely glowing, with one customer noting that while the treatment appeared to be working, they felt it was “expensive for the amount you get in a pen.”

Another shopper, who bought the pen for their elderly neighbour, praised the applicator, saying it was “easy to use and non-messy even for someone at her age”.

The Dermavia+ Fungal Nail Pen is available on Amazon for under £25.
