PR expert reveals how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s photo-deleting scandal could affect future invites

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s recent photo-deleting drama following Kris Jenner‘s 70th birthday bash could affect their future invitations to elite parties, according to a PR expert.

Last week, the couple made headlines after Kim Kardashian and Kris posted – and then suddenly removed – pictures of them celebrating Jenner’s birthday on Instagram.

It caused an immediate uproar amongst fans and sparked rumors of a feud between Meghan and the Kardashians.

Many were confused by the deletion, especially since the the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were snapped by paparazzi upon entering and leaving the event.

Now, public relations and branding expert Natalie Trice has revealed how the scandal could affect Meghan, 44, and Prince Harry, 41, long-term exclusively with the Daily Mail.

She warned that the drama could send a message to others that is both ‘confusing and ungracious,’ if in fact Meghan and Harry asked for the photos to be removed, which remains unclear.

‘This kind of post-party image control can come across as overly curated or even dismissive, which won’t sit well with hosts who are used to the natural exposure that comes with high-profile events,’ Natalie, who is the founder of Natalie Trice Publicity, said.

‘It sends a message that their team wants the access, but not the accountability that comes with it.

‘In Hollywood circles, that can be seen as both confusing and ungracious.’

With the holiday season coming up, there are likely to be more A-list parties than ever before.

And while Natalie said she believes Meghan and Harry could still attend some of them, she theorized that there might be some limitations if they in fact asked for the photos to be removed, which has not been publicly disclosed.

‘They likely will, but perhaps with more discretion or tension and may not be in that room again. The problem isn’t the attendance, it’s the after,’ she continued.

‘Hosts may be more hesitant to include them if it means dealing with image management demands after the event.

‘That kind of post-event fuss is not what most high-profile planners want to deal with during a busy season and won’t like being told what they can and can’t do.’

Whether or not Meghan and Harry will be pictured with the Kardashians ever again remains to be seen.

But Natalie believes that it’s ‘unlikely in the near future’ that they will be photographed together any time soon.

‘If the Kardashians feel their generosity or platform has been undermined, they won’t forget it, and given how public the fallout has been, it’s safe to assume both sides will keep their distance for now,’ Natalie said.

The deleted images included the SKIMS founder and Meghan posing together while smiling for the camera, as Prince Harry was seen chatting with someone in the background.

Another picture was taken from behind Kris as Meghan placed her hand on her shoulder, while Harry made a silly face at her.

Meanwhile, a third deleted photo showed Meghan about to greet the boss of Netflix, Reed Hastings, with a hug.

People Magazine claimed that Meghan and Harry – who wed in 2018 – asked that no photographs of them inside the James Bond-themed party were published.

The publication also alleged that  the Duke and Duchess of Sussex ticked a ‘no’ box on a photo consent form, leading to the party images of them on Instagram being removed.

However, a source close to the event refuted the claim to the Daily Mail, saying ‘there were no consent forms’ – leading to renewed speculation as to why the photos vanished.

A source close to the Kardashian camp also claimed they were baffled and angry, given the Sussexes were happy to be pictured inside the Baby2Baby Gala hours before Jenner’s bash, where they posed with friend Serena Williams.

A source close to Kim said this sourcing is not true, however.

Meghan and Harry’s invitation to Kris’ party comes just a few months after The Duchess sent Jenner bottles of her 2024 Napa Valley Rosé wine from her As Ever lifestyle range.

In addition to sharing a photo of the wine on her social media, mother-of-six Kris tagged both Meghan’s Instagram account as well as As Ever’s, saying, ‘Thank you.’

Meghan also sent Khloe Kardashian, 41, a deluxe hamper from As Ever, which included bottles of wine, preserves and an array of vegetables.

However, when Khloe shared snaps from sister Kylie Jenner’s 28th birthday party at the time, including a picture of the hamper, she seemingly forgot to tag Meghan in the post.

That didn’t stop the former senior royal from delightedly reposting the snap, writing ‘Hey hey, all my girls with a K’ on the post.
