Netflix viewers joke David Beckham should become a lifestyle guru instead of Meghan Markle as he gives the Duchess a run for her money in the kitchen

Viewers of Meghan Markles’s new cookery show have insisted they would ‘rather watch the Beckham’s’ version, as scathing criticism of the series continues to pour in.
Yesterday, football legend and former friend of the Sussexes David Beckham shared a heartwarming video on Instagram, celebrating Shrove Tuesday by whipping up a batch of pancakes for his family.
The post coincided with the release the Duchess of Sussex‘s highly anticipated Netflix show, With Love, Meghan – which has since been slammed as ‘gormless lifestyle filler’ with a ‘tangible desperation’ by viewers and critics.
Instead, viewers are now calling for Netflix to offer a cooking show to the Beckham family (on top of their hit documentary The Beckhams), after people were left swooning over an adorable video of David, who is known for his love of cooking, making pancakes for his children.
On Tuesday, the football star posted pictures and videos of him making pancakes. The 49-year-old was pictured flipping one pancake high into the air before a video showed him delicately dusting the final product with icing sugar.
The former England captain lovingly sieved the sugar into the shape of an ‘H’ for his and Victoria Beckham‘s youngest child, Harper, 13.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one social media user Jen Carson Taylor, wrote: ‘And there’s more! Not only does David Beckham (who should be Knighted already for representing Britain so smartly and with dignity and how many caps playing for England?!)
‘But I digress, not only does he keep bees and chickens and support the King when called upon, not only does he make pancakes for his family, he makes MONOGRAMMED pancakes for his darling daughter Harper. Could he be any sweeter?’

The post, which has now received 178,000 views on the social media app, has amassed dozens of commenters agreeing with the sentiment.
‘Hey Netflix – replace Meghan with David and you’ve got a show,’ one lamented, while a second simply wrote: ‘Maybe Netflix should give him a show.’
‘Would much rather watch a cooking show with the Beckhams any day,’ another mused.
‘Now this is a name I could watch in the kitchen… And often,’ a second wrote.
‘Why doesn’t he have a cooking show? I certainly would watch!,’ a fourth penned.
Meghan’s new show is the third series rolled out by the mother-of-two and Prince Harry, with royal sources saying it could be the last roll of the dice to salvage their lucrative $100million streaming deal.

Hollywood bible magazine Variety panned the Duchess of Sussex’s series as ‘a Montecito ego trip not worth taking’ in a no holds barred review.
But the delayed lifestyle series was slammed by critics yesterday after its premiere as ‘gormless lifestyle filler’ with a ‘tangible desperation’.
The show has received a lowly 11 per cent rating from viewers with it behind wrestling and sitcoms on Netflix’s chart.
It currently sits at number six on the streaming channel’s top 10 behind Kate Hudson’s basketball comedy series Running Point and WWE.
‘The show plays out like a forced march, one in which Meghan’s guests must, as the price of getting to share an afternoon in a made-for-TV kitchen with her, praise her first,’ they wrote.
‘”With Love, Meghan” is made with a great deal of love — in the sense that the greatest love of all is the one that a person has for herself.’
The series has a lowly 11 per cent rating from more than 250 ratings from viewers on reviews site Rotten Tomatoes.

Last night, Meghan shared a new photograph with Gloria Steinem on Instagram where she revealed that she’s ‘filmed something fun’ while in New York
A scathing one star reviewer quipped: ‘This isn’t even a fun hate watch. It’s just bad.’
A fellow low scorer said watching With Love was the ‘worst few minutes of my life’.
‘Couldn’t watch the first episode. So boring I wanted to go into a coma. Nothing new, nothing innovative. nothing interesting. Can’t put myself through anymore. I give up. I’m crying Uncle!!!
Meanwhile David and Victoria Beckham sent fans into a frenzy in 2023 when they released their Netflix documentary, The Beckhams.
The couple, who are reportedly worth more than £350 million between them, opened up about their decades-long relationship in the spotlight which appealed to viewers with its nostalgia theme as it looked back to the days when Beckham was dubbed Golden Balls.
The Beckhams and the Sussexes were once close friends after David and Victoria reached out to Meghan when she moved to the UK to live on the Kensington Palace Estate.
According to the Mail on Sunday, the couples bonded because Izzy May, David Beckham’s communications director, was friends with Markus Anderson, chief membership officer for private social club Soho House, who helped arrange Meghan’s secret dates with Harry.
A member of the designer’s staff is also understood to have helped Meghan with facials and hairdressing.
But the royal couple allegedly had a suspicion that the Beckhams leaked stories about Meghan’s help from Victoria to the press – a claim the former Spice Girl denied and left David reportedly feeling ‘absolutely bloody furious’.
Last night, Meghan shared a new photograph with Gloria Steinem on Instagram where she revealed that she’s ‘filmed something fun’ while in New York.
Taking to Instagram, she shared a clip of her walking in a hallway from behind while dressed in a pair of wide-leg trousers and a simple white vest, with the words: ‘Filmed something fun in the city today’.
But her new lifestyle series could be the last TV show she makes for Netflix as part of her $100million deal, commentators said, after the programme received a raft of withering reviews from critics.
While the Sussexes’ first documentary Harry & Meghan about their lives in 2022 was a major success in terms of audience numbers, two further productions about other subjects – Heart of Invictus in 2023 and Polo last December – slumped in the ratings.
