Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrate opening of Invictus Games with pop star Michael Buble and his wife at their ‘favourite restaurant’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated the opening of the Invictus Games with singer Michael Buble and his wife at their favourite restaurant.
They visited the Indian restaurant Vij’s where Prince William and his wife Kate had dined on a previous trip to Vancouver in 2016.
Harry and Meghan happily posed for photos with the kitchen staff after tucking into their Indian meal with the couple sharing several dishes, according to the head chef and restaurant owner Vikram Vij.
‘They ate a lot,’ said Vikram and revealed Harry ate rack of lamb with fresh mint.
He said Meghan was interested in a pasta dish cooked with prawns and coconut milk sauce.
The chef and owner of the restaurant said the foursome went back to the kitchen to thank staff and were ‘gracious and grateful’.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are close friends of the Canadian singer Buble and his wife Luisana.

Vikram posted to Instagram (pictured) to celebrate the moment, saying: ‘We were honoured to once again welcome Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Michael Buble and Luisana Lopilato’
When Harry and Meghan visited Vancouver last year to promote the Invictus Games they were joined by Buble at a curling event held in the Hillcrest Centre.
Vikram said he was concerned for the safety of the couple as the parking area was still covered in snow. The couple had arrived after attending the spectacular opening ceremony and a hockey match between the local Canucks team and Toronto Maple Leafs.
He said Meghan loved all the food that was on offer.
‘Meghan is awesome and loved all the food, he said.

‘She remembered the chilis from last time, and I was totally impressed because she knew bhindi is the Hindi word for okra.’
The chef, who began his culinary career in Austria, said he offered to hold Meghan’s hand as she arrived at the downtown Vancouver restaurant, to stop her slipping over.
He added Harry was wearing a smart pair of shoes so he cheekily asked him: ‘Do you want me to hold your hand?’ The offer was declined.
The restaurant boast about Harry and Meghan’s previous visit on their website.
On the first full day of sporting activities Harry and Meghan will be attending wheelchair basketball and curling events.
