Did Meghan Markle’s Instagram charity boast upset Adam Levine and Billie Eilish? The popstars could now be inundated with requests after she chose to ‘humble brag’ about their good deed to the world, say royal experts on PALACE CONFIDENTIAL
Meghan Markle‘s recent Instagram post where she boasted of helping a 15-year-old victim of the LA wildfires may have upset Adam Levine and Billie Eilish, according to royal experts.
The unusual video post has been the talk of the internet after the Duchess of Sussex, 43, revealed how she helped the teenage music fan get a new Eilish T-shirt with the help of Levine.
But some have questioned her motive behind the choice to share the good deed with her 1.7million Instagram followers, with some suggesting that she was ‘showing off’ and ‘name-dropping’ her celebrity friends.
Now the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden has said he thinks her publicity-hungry move could have annoyed Ocean Eyes singer Eilish and Maroon Five frontman Levine.
He explained: ‘Generally famous people don’t really like to celebrate these type of things if they do charitable work, they try to keep that quiet.
‘It is noticeable that Billie Eilish and Adam Levine, I don’t think they have posted anything on social media.
‘So I wonder if Billie Eilish is actually very happy there is sort of Meghan boasting – “all you need to do is pester me”.’
The Editor at Large for the Mail on Sunday Charlotte Griffiths added: ‘She is probably not very happy.’

The comments were made on the latest episode of Palace Confidential, with host Jo Elvin adding: ‘I do have experience funnily enough with Billie Eilish herself.
‘When I worked for a cancer charity, she did a video for a little girl for us, and we were sort of expressly asked not to social that because then they just get inundated.’
Meghan’s one-minute thirty-six-second video featured her appearing seemingly candidly in jeans and minimal make-up, while she described how she helped the girl.
She said the only thing the young music fan had been looking for in her destroyed home was a T-shirt from Eilish – but it had been turned to ‘ash’.
Meghan said that with the help of Levine, 45, and his Victoria’s Secret model wife Behati Prinsloo, 36, she managed to get the signed Billie Eilish merch to the girl.
The post was only the fourth Meghan had made on Instagram since she restarted her account on January 1, after having previously deleted her account and warned about the dangers of social media.
Richard claims she is clearly ‘looking for material to put on it’ and the moment and thought she would ‘show off’ the fact she managed to secure the merchandise.
Charlotte added: ‘I think Meghan’s biggest problem is her lack of self awareness. She just comes across like she is acting.

‘In this video it is supposed to be like TikTok style, like I just grab the camera and say a few words off the cuff.
‘She was not wearing any makeup to create that kind of informal look, but of course her hair had been done and she was very careful not to show her house as we know she is very private about her house and the angle is very carefully managed.
‘If it was really off the cuff and informal and she just found this load of Billie Eilish merch it would have been less rehearsed. You could tell it had been rehearsed, I would have loved to see how many times she had practiced before she did it.’
Other media commentators have also been critical of the video, with the author Alexander Larman writing in The Spectator that is seemed ‘nauseatingly contrived’ and ‘actressy’.
He said: ‘It screams of consumerism and fakery: both things, by now, that the Duchess has intimately associated herself with.’
Nile Gardiner, a former aide to Margaret Thatcher and foreign policy analyst, chimed in on Twitter/X: ‘Somehow Meghan Markle manages to turn the tragic LA wildfire disaster into a story about herself.’
Meghan’s decision to share her efforts with her followers led to a slew of news articles around the world about her philanthropy.
She said in the video: ‘Huge thank you, Billie Eilish, this is going to mean so much to her, and honestly, to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped me get this over the line.

Charlotte said Meghan has a history of making kind gestures of this nature and telling people about them.
The experienced royal expert said: ‘Meghan does do these gestures, because we know that she organised an ice cream van at Kensington Palace.
‘And when the bullying accusations came out against her she came out and said “I can’t be a bully I got an ice cream van and got free ice cream for everyone”.
‘I do feel like there are these gestures, there are other examples as well, I think she does these things not very often, but then talks about them a lot. Then thinks that’s enough to make her a good, perfect person.
‘But I think it has to be consistent. And actually charity, real charity, isn’t something you show off about. You know maybe there are millions of examples of her doing charitable things that she hasn’t told people about, but it doesn’t feel like it somehow.’
The backlash against Meghan’s video comes just a few weeks after she and her husband were dubbed ‘disaster tourists’ when they visited victims at a wildfire evacuation centre in Los Angeles.
