Watch out Harry and Meghan! King Charles is set to be the star of a feature-length Amazon film at Dumfries House

The King is set to star in a feature-length Amazon film set in a royal mansion in Scotland.

The King’s son Prince Harry and daughter-in-law Meghan Markle have signed TV and podcast deals since quitting life as working royals.

Yet now it seems Charles is also stepping into the streaming business with his film for the American giant Amazon.

The documentary is currently being filmed at Dumfries House in Scotland and will take inspiration from a book written by His Majesty.

It is set to air towards the end of this year or the start of 2026.

Filming began earlier this month and takes inspiration from Harmony: A New Way of Looking At Our World, which the monarch wrote in 2010.

In the book, King Charles explains how society must rebalance its relationship between humans, the modern world and nature in order to avert an environmental crisis.

He called for a ‘dramatic revolution’ to the way people look at the world.

A source told The Times: ‘More than any other documentary he has done before, the aim seems to be to tell the world what the King stands for and what he is all about.’

The documentary is said to delve into the ideas put forward by the monarch 15 years ago.

A palace source said viewers would be ‘genuinely amazed’ at how these have now been implemented and added: ‘This is a chance to ‘show, not tell’ how [the ideas] can transform people, places, and ultimately the planet.’

It is understood Amazon was just one of a number of platforms consulted about the film, before the streaming giant was given the royal go-ahead.

In an interview to promote Harmony in 2010, King Charles, then Prince of Wales, said: ‘I am absolutely determined to be the defender of nature. Full stop.

‘That’s what the rest of my life is going to be concerned with.

‘I think people don’t quite understand how much it requires to put your head above the parapet.

‘It’s no fun having your head shot off all the time. But I just feel deeply. I know perfectly well this book is going to bring all of my critics out of their lairs.’

In an extract from the book he declared that nothing less than a ‘revolution’ would  change people’s attitudes towards the environment.

He wrote: ‘The many environmental and social problems that now loom large on our horizon cannot be solved by carrying on with the very approach that has caused them.

‘This will involve taking all sorts of dramatic steps to change the way we consider the world and act in it.’

Elsewhere he expressed his frustration that people thought he has been ‘merely leaping from one subject to another, from architecture one minute to agriculture the next, as if I had spent a morning saving the rainforest, then in the afternoon jumping to help young people start new businesses.’

King Charles was however trying to show all of these issues are ‘completely interrelated’ in understanding the bigger picture.

Her Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, 43, has revealed the much-anticipated series will give people ‘an authentic look’ at the royal.

The show will be the latest production released as part of a multimillion-dollar deal between Netflix and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Harry recently released a series about polo, while in 2022 the couple participated in a candid docuseries, Harry & Meghan, which examined their departure from royal life.
