‘I’m a hair stylist – look 10 years younger by stopping these three common habits’
Retaining a youthful appearance is a popular goal for many people in terms of their looks. It’s, therefore, no surprise that the anti-ageing industry is worth billions of pounds worldwide.
Products such as anti-wrinkle creams and hair dye are used to prevent or reduce unwanted signs of ageing. Invasive cosmetic treatments are also becoming more and more common in the pursuit of delaying ageing.
But one expert revealed there is a simpler way to roll back the clock just by changing up your hairstyle.
Hair can be a giveaway of your age, and not just if you have a few greys. Styles like a perm are more associated with older women, while longer styles tend to be worn by younger generations.
If styled correctly, hair can therefore help enhance your facial features and draw attention away from signs of ageing, including wrinkles and sagging skin.
However, one hair stylist says there are several mistakes most people make when visiting the salon or styling your hair at home that could actually make you look older.
Speaking on social media platform TikTok, beauty content creator and bridal stylist Dana Tate, shared the three things to avoid.
These include:
- Having a short fringe
- Using too much hairspray
- Colouring your hair too dark.
She said: “Stop doing these things with your hair if you want to look younger.”
She warned against having a “super short” fringe. It comes as more celebs start to play with wispy fringes that look playful and young rather than angular and cold.
The expert added: “All that hairspray giving you a helmet head? It’s also making you look older.”
Instead, you could opt for products like sea salt spray that still holds your hair in place and adds texture, but doesn’t mean your hair moves as one.
She continued: “Hair colour that is too dark for you is not doing you any favours.
“Even if you love dark hair, try a few face-framing highlights to brighten up around your face and make you look at least 10 years younger.”
