Meghan Markle’s mother Doria Ragland is getting friendly with momagers Tina Knowles and Kris Jenner who have ‘formed a new clique’ in recent months – so is she set to join their ranks as the Duchess launches her lifestyle brand?

Doria Ragland has been by her daughter Meghan Markle’s side from day one, with the pair sharing an incredibly close relationship.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed in their Netflix documentary in 2022 that Doria plays an integral part in their new life in Montecito as they raise Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – but aside from being a mother and grandmother, her own star is beginning to rise in Hollywood circles. 

The 67-year-old attended an art event in LA last month with her daughter and son-in-law where, in a newly-released photo, she beamed alongside Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé Knowles.

It’s not the first time she has been spotted getting friendly with a famed ‘momager’ – as she also chatted with Kris Jenner at a This Is About Humanity event in LA last summer.

As Doria continues to move in high-profile A-List circles while her daughter Meghan prepares to launch her first lifestyle brand, could she be joining the ranks of the entertainment industry’s most notorious momagers who have reportedly formed a ‘new clique’ in recent months?

A ‘momager’ is the term given to mothers who have taken on managerial roles in the careers of their famous children.

Perhaps the most well-known momager in the industry is Kris Jenner – who is the manager for all six of her children: Kim, Kourtney, Khloe and Rob Kardashian, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

Kris was instrumental in landing the reality show which made her family famous – Keeping up With the Kardashians.

Since then her children have all gone on to reach stratospheric heights – with both Kim and Kylie officially declared billionaires in recent years.

Last August Doria posed up a storm with Kris and Kim as they both attended a This Is About Humanity charity event in LA.

As the trio posed for photos, they embraced and beamed, looking very pally as they cosied up to each other.

The mother-of-one donned a vibrant, paisley shift dress in stunning yellow, orange and pink shades as she mingled with the A-listers at the event – who also included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Last month, Doria also brushed shoulders with another well-known momager in the entertainment industry – Tina Knowles.

The pair posed up a storm at The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection party, which had been organised in part by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

While the royal couple were busy taking on organisational roles as they greeted guests at the event, Doria did some networking of her own.

Dressed in understated chic as she donned a delicate white cardigan, she put her arm around Tina, 70, who was dressed in an atypical ‘momager’ power outfit- a black blazer belted at the waist, teamed with a quilted handbag.

Tina has long been a driving force behind her songstress daughters Beyoncé and Solange, and she was also instrumental in forming Destiny’s Child, the band in which her eldest daughter made her name.

Last year, Hello! Magazine reported that Tina and Beyoncé had formed a new A list friendship group during the Renaissance tour. 

A tour insider told the magazine that the mother and daughter’s ‘new clique’ included Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner, as well as female powerhouses Oprah Winfrey (a friend of the Sussexes) and Gayle King.

Kris even attended Beyoncé’s birthday party last September and was spotted in the VIP section at several of Beyoncé’s tour dates.

‘There’s definitely a new sisterhood emerging with Kris spearheading it,’ the insider claimed.

As the powerful women hone a close-knit friendship group, it seems Doria may well be on their list of potential recruits.

Two days after Beyoncé’s 42nd birthday last September, Doria was present at the singer’s birthday concert where she enjoyed a seat in a VIP box at the SoFi Stadium with her friend, lawyer Gina Zapanta. 

Just a few days earlier, she’d attended another Beyoncé concert with Meghan and Harry.

Since Harry and Meghan moved to California following Megxit, Doria has become a more vocal figure in public life.

Speaking in the couple’s Netflix documentary in 2022, she said: ‘I’m ready to have my voice heard, that’s for sure. A little bit of my experience as ‘[Meghan’s] mum.’ 

Her appearance in the documentary earnt Doria fans from around the world, who dubbed her ‘Mama Doria’.

Nowadays, Doria is sometimes spotted by her beloved daughter and son-in-law’s sides as they attend high-powered and glitzy events across the US.

Last year, she joined the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Women of Vision Awards in New York City, where Meghan was honoured with an award.
