With the Academy Awards trying to boost declining ratings and return to the center of the cultural conversation, there’s a report that the show has asked Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to present one of the awards Sunday night — possibly best picture.
The idea that the royal couple would be featured at the 94th Oscars is controversial for several reasons, and both fans and critics of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are questioning the validity of the report from the UK tabloid The Sun.
Valid or not, the report is stirring up debate on social media and comes at a sensitive time for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
