Given the love that Meghan Markle inspires among her online “Sussex Squad” fans, they could believe she belongs in the same company as the famous, fascinating and formidable women in history that acclaimed biographer Dame Antonia Fraser has written about.
Fraser, the best-selling author of books about Mary Queen of Scots, Henry VIII’s six wives and Marie Antionette, however, isn’t a fan of the American Duchess. She was initially intrigued by Meghan’s “independent force,” but she soured on Prince Harry’s wife and “vainly” wishes she would “shut up,” as she explained in a new interview with The Telegraph.
“When Meghan first came to this country, I was very much in favor of her as an independent force — in order to remain the same, you must change,” Fraser, 89, said the interview published Saturday.
