Prince Harry Reportedly Planned Royal Exit Just Months After Meghan Markle Royal Wedding
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot on May 19, 2018. Nearly two years later, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they would step down from their royal duties.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton claimed in an interview on the Mirror’s royal podcast, “Pod Save the Queen,” that just months after marrying Markle, Prince Harry started talking about his life outside the firm.
The royal couple made their first royal trip abroad in October 2018, and when they visited New Zealand, the pair “were thinking about living in New Zealand, and they even spoke to the prime minister” of the country.
“It didn’t work out because when it actually comes down to it, Prince Harry is cursed with charisma but hates being a prince, and I think that he saw Meghan as a way out,” he added. “They didn’t have to leave the royal family in the way that they did, but they did.”
Prince Harry also reportedly spoke to Oprah Winfrey about the same thing after he and Markle returned from their 16-day royal tour.
