In the first image released of the young royal by her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the little girl can be seen playing in the grass at Frogmore Cottage, her parents’ first marital home. She is wearing a sweet blue frock with a white headband, smiling at the photographer, family friend Misan Harriman.
The photograph was taken during her first birthday festivities on Saturday, which was reportedly attended by her namesake great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen (Lilibet is a family nickname for the monarch). Others celebrating with the young royal included the children of Peter Phillips, 11-year-old Savannah and 10-year-old Isla, and the children of Zara Tindall, eight-year-old Mia, three-year-old Lena and one-year-old Lucas.
Harriman also shared an image of Meghan holding Lilibet, with the caption reading: ‘It was such a privilege to celebrate the 1st birthday of Lilibet with my family and hers! Joy and face painting all around.’
A spokesperson for the royals also said that the couple’s wedding baker Claire Ptak made the birthday cake, while over $100,000 worth of donations were made to World Central Kitchen in honour of the youngster’s birthday. Harry and Meghan also added that they were ‘incredibly touched’ by the birthday wishes they had received for Lilibet.
