Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should not travel to the UK for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this year, according to 42% people who took part in a poll.
According to the opinion poll conducted by Sunday Express, only less than 30% believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should take part in the celebrations marking 70 years of the Queen’s reign. The latest poll suggests the majority of the public would prefer Harry and Meghan to stay at their Montecito mansion. The media outlet commissioned the poll that was conducted by Redfield & Wilton Strategies.
The results came just two days after the first hearing of Harry’s legal battle against the United Kingdom government for its refusal to provide police protection for him, Meghan and the kids when they visit their home country. The Duke was stripped of his taxpayer-funded bodyguards when he and Meghan decided to step down as senior royals and relocate to the United States, where they pay for their security team.
Harry has claimed his security was compromised during a visit to England last summer to unveil a statue of his mother, Princess Diana. Photographers chased the Duke’s car as he left a separate charity event in Kew Gardens, south-west London. Harry stated on this occasion that his private security team did not have access to British intelligence information or possess police powers.
