On Meghan‘s 39th Birthday in 2020, many senior members of the Royal Family posted warm wishes to the Duchess on social media. The flurry of supportive messages for her birthday in August came in spite of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to step back as working members of the Royal Family just five months earlier. The first message came from the Queen, who was followed by the Cambridges.
Prince Charles and Camilla then followed suit.
The Queen posted a photo of the Duchess of Sussex smiling with Her Majesty at a joint event in Chester from 2018.
She said: “Wishing the Duchess of Sussex a very happy birthday!”
But royal expert Ingrid Seward, Editor-in-Chief of Majesty magazine, said that the various messages contained “hidden signs”, claiming that there was much more to the posts than meets the eye.
Ms Seward argued that the senior royals knew how “sensitive Meghan is” and as a result made sure to congratulate her despite the feud.
She told the Daily Star: “I am sure Meghan’s first reaction will be ‘what a nice gesture’, then later she might consider it just part of the royal machine she and Harry hate so much.
“We will probably never know but I hope it’s just the former.”
