The Duke of York was embroiled in a civil court case brought against him by one of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims. Andrew has vehemently denied all of the accusations made against him but they have seriously marred his reputation. Virginia Giuffre launched a US civil case against Prince Andrew where she accused him of sexually abusing her two decades ago.
Court documents released on Tuesday revealed they have come to a financial settlement in principle.
In the settlement, the Duke of York agreed to pay a “significant” but undisclosed sum and accepted that the 38-year-old had suffered as a victim of abuse.
Although the exact amount of the settlement hasn’t yet been released, it has been reported that it could be as high as £12m.
According to the Telegraph, some of that money could come from the Queen.
Prince Andrew
But now, fans of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have lashed out after the couple were refused security if they return to Britain as they are no longer senior members of the Firm.
Journalist, Louis Staples, tweeted: “But they wouldn’t pay for Harry and Meghan’s security.”
Another Twitter user, Will, wrote: “Harry and Meghan literally had all their financial support and security taken away from them.
“But now Prince Andrew is being covered by the Queen with his £12million lawsuit. Disgusting.”
