Meghan Markle, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and they now live in the US with their two children Archie and Lilibet. In the absence of them and other senior royals, in addition to Covid and the Queen’s health scare, Kate – and other royals including her husband Prince William – have stepped up to the plate to complete engagements and appearances, and generally uphold the image of the Royal Family.
Royal historian Sarah Gristwood claims that Kate is a prominent feature for the Firm currently, and will remain so going forward.
Ms Gristwood also claims that the Duchess provides an “essential glamour factor”, thanks to her appearance at events when the spotlight is on the monarchy.
She told Express.co.uk: “We’ve seen a lot more of Kate just recently – and I think that will very definitely continue into the future.
“The thinning of the family‘s ranks, and the Queen’s age, mean that all the remaining senior royals have had to step up their activities – but there’s one thing only Kate can provide, and that’s the essential glamour factor.
