Queen showing signs of ‘slimming down’ the monarchy says expert
Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are believed to have spent this Christmas at their home in Montecito, California. This year marked their daughter Lilibet’s first Christmas. She was one of four royal babies the Queen referenced in her speech yesterday — the others being Princess Eugenie‘s son August, Princess Beatrice’s baby girl Sienna and Zara Tindall’s third baby Lucas. Her Majesty spent Christmas Day at Windsor Castle after cancelling plans to go to her Sandringham residence.
She was joined by Prince Charles and Camilla, as well as Prince Edward, Sophie and their two children.
Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge spent the day at their Anmer Hall residence with their three children and some of the Middleton family.
This year marks the third consecutive Christmas that the Sussexes have spent away from the rest of the Royal Family.
Last year a travel ban prevented a return even if they had wanted to, while they spent the Christmas of 2019 in Canada with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland.
They had spent the previous two years at Sandringham with the rest of the royals.
