Meghan Markle reveals Archie wore a dinosaur costume for Halloween

Meghan Markle has revealed how her son Archie wore a dinosaur costume for Halloween this year – while six-month-old Lilibet was dressed as a skunk from Disney film Bambi.

The Duchess of Sussex, 40, who is currently living in her $14 million mansion in California, is making a surprise talk show appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show set to air in the US today.

Mother-of-two Meghan also revealed that this year the family were ‘at home’ for Halloween – but also saw Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi, who live near Harry and Meghan’s £11million mansion in Montecito, California.

She added: ‘We wanted to do something fun for the kids, and then the kids were just not into it at all. Archie was a dinosaur for maybe five minutes, not even five minutes.’

Ellen added: ‘Finally Harry talked him into putting the head on. But Lili was a skunk. It was so cute.’

And Meghan said, addressing the audience: ‘Like Flower from Bambi.’

Meghan has previously spoken about how her mother Doria’s childhood nickname for her was ‘Flower.’

In a blog post on her now-defunct lifestyle site, The Tig, Meghan shared her nicknames, writing: ‘Meg, MM, M&M, and Flower (which my mom has called me since I was little),’ reported People.

In another clip, Meghan said she and Harry were ‘happy’ in California as she spoke about daughter Lilibet’s teething troubles.

Ellen, a friend of the couple who lives near them in the celebrity enclave of Montecito, asked what Harry loves about California. The duchess replied: ‘We’re just happy.’

Ellen said of the Sussexes’ five-month-old daughter: ‘Lili’s now teething.’

Meghan put her hands to her mouth, saying ‘Anything to relieve that.’

Meanwhile Meghan also revealed her six-month-old daughter Lili was dressed as Flower, the skunk from the film Bambi, during the interview (pictured)

The talk show host quipped ‘Tequila, anything’,.

Meghan replied: ‘That’s Auntie Ellen for you,’ with DeGeneres saying ‘That’s why I don’t have kids.’

Ellen first met Meghan by chance at an animal shelter some years ago and encouraged her to adopt her first dog, Bogart.

She has previously described the Sussexes as ‘the cutest couple, so down to earth’ and defended them when they faced criticism after taking a series of flights on private jet.

After meeting the Sussexes’ son in 2019, Ellen said: ‘I mean I can’t tell you how sweet they are. But the most important thing is I got to hold Archie. I fed Archie. I held Archie.’

Meghan and Harry have until now remained incredibly private about Lili, who was born in June, and was named Lilibet after the royal family’s nickname for the Queen.

The Sussexes have not yet released any photographs of Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor who is eighth in line to the throne.

Archie has also rarely been seen since the couple stepped back as senior royals in March last year, with the most recent picture of him released to mark his second birthday this May showing him with his back to the camera.

The interview will raise fears in Buckingham Palace that she may be about launch a fresh attack on the royals, who the Sussexes have previously accused of racism towards Archie and allegations they ignored Meghan when she claimed to be suicidal while pregnant and living in London.

Teasing the full interview, Ellen tweeted the clip and said: ‘A lot has changed since the last time Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, was on the Warner Brothers lot. Don’t miss the rest of our interview tomorrow.’
