Decades ago, Prince Charles and then-Camilla Parker-Bowles’s relationship caused quite a stir among the British public. But now Camilla and Charles are married, and the Duchess has been a member of the Royal Family for several years, a royal expert believes the public’s perception of Camilla is now a positive one.
Since she married Prince Charles in 2005, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall has gone on to become one of the frontline working members of the Royal Family.
Camilla is frequently by Charles’s side for official events and diplomatic meetings.
But in her own right, Camilla is also a patron of several charities and she often completes royal engagements individually.
Although Camilla is now well-versed in senior royal life, her relationship with Prince Charles and early years of marriage was met with some disapproval by the public.
But in a recent article, Camilla Tominey, the Telegraph’s Associate Editor, explained how Camilla has “slowly won over the British public”.
She wrote: “Half a century on, having softened her look and uncomplainingly got on with the job, the 74-year-old Duchess has slowly won over the British public and is now the 10th most popular member of the Royal family, with a higher approval rating than Harry and Meghan.
“The dark days of being the ‘third person’ in the Prince and Princess of Wales’s marriage are well behind her.
