An art lecturer from the University of Exeter has been suspended after she was accused of making a racist remark about Meghan Markle.
Anne Anderson was about to begin a Zoom lecture about Scandinavian design with member of The Arts Society Truro when she made a reference to “the dreaded Meghan”.
The 64-year-old said she was having an informal chat before the lecture when she commented on the aftermath of the Oprah Winfrey interview, Cornwall Live reports.
“You couldn’t turn the television on without some person of a colourful disposition having a moan about something,” she said during the call.

Dr Anderson said she mentioned Meghan and Prince Harry’s explosive interview to a participant, explaining she had a lecture that night and lost quite a few viewers due to the clash with the much-anticipated programme.
“That’s how the topic turned up. I didn’t think much of it.”
Two days later, Dr Anderson was removed from The Arts Society’s directory for using “racist” language.
“I got an email saying I was suspended and also that they had suspended my accreditation as a lecturer,” she said.
